GPS Navigation Units Question
« on: April 13, 2012, 08:59:24 am »
Hi, I bought a car recently and would like to buy a GPS unit for it. The only ones I have seen in various stores only have Hangul. I need one that is completely in English. I have looked at Amazon and seen several but from what I saw they are loaded with North American maps.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to where I may be able to find an English GPS unit for my car?

Thanks

I would suggest checking around Yongsan Electronic Market and also check out the car dealerships around Yongsan and Itaewon. It will probably end up costing you a bit more than you'd expect because it's in English. You could also check out www.craigslist.co.k r. I haven't been on there lately but usually you can find used ones at a decent price.

http://usfkclassifieds.co.kr/ at $420.00

I would suggest having your coT help you look at Gmarket since they're a bit cheaper it seems.

Thank you, I'll give that a whirl. I now understand why they are standard in newer cars, road signage and maps are not very helpful.

If you have a smart phone can't you just sit that on your dash and use a navigation app?

Actually Cereal~ I don't have a GPS and drive everywhere with just the maps application on my phone since it has an automatic GPS locating system on it. Also, for longer trips, I bought a Korean road map book that I'll use to check against the phone for the best way to get somewhere. I can read Korean so that makes it much easier for me than some others.
