Yes. It's one of my favorite movies. It has great production quality and portrays Korean culture's ideal friendships and familial relationships. It also gives you a pretty good idea of how terrible the Korean War was. Highly recommended, especially if you like war movies.

A few years ago I picked up the deluxe set. It is an amazing movie and was top of the charts in Korea for some time. it is up there with some of the best war movies ever made. Interestingly enough that shortly after the movie came out the lead actress committed suicide.  She gave a commending role and should have gone on to bigger and better things... All in all, really good movie. Also it helps you learns Korean Swears.

This movie opened the door of Korean cinema to me. Watch it and don't stop there. Be sure to watch the 3 revenge movies from Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance). Also be sure to check out Chingu and Memories of Murder (this in my opinion is the best Korea film ever made).

If I'm thinking of the right movie, there were at least two 15 minute long shooting scenes. It felt like I was watching commando.  Maybe I'm just not an action man, but that was way too long for me.  I turned down the volume and might have even left the room for awhile to get snacks.  I also thought the drama was a bit over the top, but there were some pretty scenes.

These Korean films kept my attention for much longer:
