Mailing to South Africa
« on: March 07, 2012, 10:04:44 am »
Hey Teachers

I will like to hear from anyone with helpful advice about mailing a lot of, two to three meduim to large boxes, back to South Africa, Joburg. For example, how much per kg and how long does it take? And what would you ask at the Post office? When you recieved your paackage in SA, what condition was it?

I have 6 months before i leave so long shipping would be no problems.

Thanks

Look under the South Africa section on this site - there's a lot of information on precisely this already posted.

Thanks for the link.

Do you recommend a cheaper way of sending a large and heavy package back to South Africa

You can buy a 20kg box from the post office, pack it and bring it back and they ship it (by boat) for 50 000 won. Think the box costs like 2400 won or something lke that. takes 2-3 months to arrive. I haven't personally tried this yet but I know someone who has and her box arrived safely in SA in 2 months. You can find more info on this thread  http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,14950.0.html
