A ppt to use with 5th Grade Lesson 2 (Cheonjae book).
It's not perfect by any means, but it has all the pictures to use for vocabulary.


Also, just the vocabulary word cards for quick reference. I colored them using MS Paint.  :P

Listening game:  4 corners with teams
Use the picture cards on p201.  There are 8.  Make a team for each card.  So, for example, the students in team "notebook" should each be holding the picture of the notebook.  Place 4 book characters on the walls.  The teams split up and choose a book character to stand under.  Then, randomly assign each item to a character.  Read the sentences, such as, "Whose umbrella is this?  It's Minu's."  Then, if any of team "umbrella" is standing under the picture of Minu, they hold up their cards and get one point for each person.  Do that for all the items, then allow the students to find a new place to stand and repeat.

Speaking game:
Give each student two small squares of paper.  Each student should choose 2 items from the vocabulary and draw them.  Then, group the students.  In each group, the students put their drawings face down in the middle.  Each student is trying to guess who drew each picture.  If they guess correctly, they take that picture out of the middle and keep it as a point.  The 1st student will choose a picture from the middle, and say "Whose ____ is it?  Is it yours?" as he/she indicates another student in the group.  The other student then says "Yes, it is" or "No, it isn't."  Students should be careful not to let other students see their drawings before the game begins.

Hey! I really liked this speaking game idea so I made a ppt and used it in my class. My kids are already in groups of 3 and 4, so we just played in groups. Hope it helps someone!
There's also a short Vocab review at the beginning.

**Make sure you tell then to ask one at a time! I had some groups just grabbing cards and yelling "Umbrella!"  ???

Here's a tweaked version of "Whose Dung is this?" with some changes in typeface and graphics.  Minimal, but it makes for a more interesting presentation.  The other powerpoint is negligible, pictures of a baseball bat, baseball glove, and a baseball, but the activity that went with it may be worthwhile.

I brought in a baseball glove, bat and ball, and started the class by having the students write their names on a small slip of paper that was on their desks as they came in the classroom.  After practicing writing their names, we put the slips in a bag.  Later in the class, I stuffed a slip of paper into the baseball glove and tossed it to one of the students, asking the student, "Whose baseball glove is this?".  Then the student extracted the name and had to say, "It's Kim so and so's baseball glove." Whereby a new slip of paper was inserted into the glove and it was tossed to Kim so-and-so.  When that got old, after five or six times, we switched to taping the slip of paper to a baseball and tossing it to the student who had the glove, then finally switched to taping the name to the baseball bat and pretending to throw it but handing it off instead.  It made for a nice activity.

hey guys. another vocabulary ppt here. this one reviews the new words from the chapter (i'm using the blazing pens game that someone [sorry can't remember who!] posted yesterday later in the period so i think a review will prepare them from the game. as the middle of the lesson springs "i have..." out of nowhere, i've including a small explanation of when to use the phrase, a chart with the conjugation of to have and then sample sentences using vocabulary from the textbook. hope it's helpful!

Hey - I used the attached PPT.  Embedded videos from YouTube may not work due to the path I used - so you may need to just go to the video directly on YouTube itself! Anyway I used characters from Pororo/Harry Potter to elicit 'Whose (hat) is this?' or 'Whose (glove) is this?' - then I also ask them to spell the characters name (to review previous lesson).  I've also used examples of some K-pop musicians to try and make it more interesting!

I had an identical activity for another 5th grade book since I rotate between 2 schools, but this is a writing based activity- writing stations- so it takes a bit of prep work and some organization. The students at my other school really seemed to enjoy it though, so I'm going to give it another try.
Anyway, if anyone is still on lesson 2, here's what I prepared. There's a slide with information for how I use it.

I played the group clap game for period 4 today. It went ok but just a warning, it can be very exhausting for the teacher. Also, its better to read it as a whole class, because my levels are so mixed. The kids have fun reading and doing the motions together.

Hey - I combined a few ppt's that were posted earlier in the thread, made some changes and added a few things. Good for a quick review. Maybe for period 2 or three! Thanks to those people who posted the originals!


I'm doing open class next week on period 6.  I swiped someone else's cute snail themed ppt (thanks!) and adjusted it to what I need. We are doing:
                      1. Song
                      2. PPT "Whose __ is this? It's ___'s." practice
                      3. Cinderella Role-play
For the role-play, first we will watch the book's version. Then we'll give out our own version and have the students act it out. It's the same story/key sentences as the book, but with a bit more added in.

These are different materials that I have that I will be using. I saw the thread and these are the different material than is already posted.

A "Go fish" game. I use the cards in the back, and the PPT explains the game. Oh, yea. This instruction PPT has my student's faces on them. They can easily be replaced by whatever you want. Removing them does not affect the PPT in any way.

"Whose puppy is it" Lyrics. My CoT had the sheet, I added blanks to it. I will do this song first as a "Stand up Sit Down Game."  KIDS LOVE THIS GAME. Then hand out the worksheet. Fill out the blanks.
If you do not know. Write words from the song from the song on the board. Have the students pick a word. Play the song, everytime they hear their word they stand, then sit down. The students still standing, win.

Chase the Vocab: Meant for period 4 or 5. The way I play this game:
         At each round. Students must write a sentence for each picture. (or whatever the language it is)
                I have a watch. I have a red shirt. She has a blue watch. They have a spongebob shirt.
         I then go to the next slide and scramble the pictures. Ss then must assign a number to each of the
                  sentences that they wrote. They number they wrote must match to the card on the PPT. If it
                  matches, point.

And a play on the Zombie Game:
          Will play in groups. For example 6 groups of 4. Will make a set of cards for each group, so will make
          one set off 4 cards and give one set to each group. Each person will have one card.
          -Student A in group 1 has a red hat.
          -He stands, and picks a student from another group. Lets say student C in group 5.
          -Student 1A. I have a red hat.
                               Do you have a red hat.
                          5C Yes, I have a red hat.
                                No, I do not have a red hat.
          - If 1A finds his matching card, then his team gets a point.
          - Then the next team goes.
          For each round I have student from each I have student A from every group stand. Then by teams they 
          start to ask. After each team has gone. Student B from each group stands and they ask again.
         
          After each round, you can have the students change cards among the groups, so the other students
          do not know which card they have.  (I hope you guys understand)

Intro ppt for Lesson 2 Period 1.  We played Snatch with the cards in the back of the book.  The students have to put their hands on their hands, then we say "Whose____ is this" and they grab the card.  The student with the most cards wins.

a basic PPT if you merely want your children to repeat till they got the key sentence through muscle memory. I would ask for each picture..."whose______ is it"
and they should answer with each name that accompanies the picture; "it's Taehee's"

If you have some time left and the PPT is finished start from the beginning, but ask each student one by one"
