Not accepting job from people who are creepy
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:03:31 am »
Have you ever trusted your intuition and turned
down a job because of the people hiring oozing
creepiness??? In the past I turned down a job
in Korea because the guy gave me the creeps
and then a few months later, someone was warning
people about the very same person.  Yesterday it
happened to me again.  I was supposed to meet a
lady about a job and we turned the corner where
two of her business associates were...right away I
felt sick...these were the two creepiest men
I've ever seen...such creepy auras.  One just sat
and stared weirdly at me^^, didn't even say hello
and he made an annoyed noise with his mouth when
the lady asked him to give me^^ his business card...what a
creep!  The other guy had a leering creepy grin .
This was for an after school program KASE.

I'd have to teach at 5 different schools...a different one
each day of the week.  The creepiest man said
he didn't want to give me^^ health insurance...I could have
more pay instead.  Looks like I'll be going back to
Mom and Dad's unemployed...even with experience,
all I can get are terrible offers from creeps..I've never felt
so terrible after meeting someone.  I still feel sick
today.  This two men oozed pure evil.

you shouldn't have any problem finding a job as long as you aren't picky about location. Also try 1) spamming as many recruiters as possible with your resume/cv  and a flattering photo and 2) find the foreigner hangout bar in the neighborhood you want to work in and ask who is leaving. You know that all the good hagwons never advertise online because they get handed off from friend to friend.

That sucks! But stick with it and keep trying. Start with the job offers board here or apply to schools directly. There are tons of ESL blacklists out there to guide you. I believe there's even a post about it somewhere here.

But good for you for sticking to your gut. I know that kind of man, that oozes threat and nastiness. Don't ever be afraid to say no if their deal seems bad or their manner makes you uncomfortable!

A person staring?  In Korea?

A hagwon boss not offering health insurance?

I'm shocked.
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me.

Didn't you post about this in another thread?

And what's with the odd formatting.  That looks creepy to me.

AWESOME! I felt the same about the formatting. As for creepiness, that is a global thing. Once you get out of your hometown, you start noticing that a lot more. And generally insurance salesmen do ooze pure evil. Again, a global thing. I'd say just relax and find something that oozes less creepiness and pure evil. There has to be something out there.

good point gilbert. the best thing to do is to speak with the people that you are replacing. That way your speaking with someone that is somewhat similar with you and they can answer all your questions about the job, including creepiness.
