I can only speak about EPIk afterschool jobs.  They are fine but the paperwork and report cards is a little much for the money.  That is my opinion.
Cheers.
It's -ev to deal with some people.

They are if they're not done with your employer's consent.  Basically on an E-2 you can only work for your employer, where your employer tells you.  You can't work for anyone else, anywhere else.

Sorry, meant to add, you can work elsewhere, but only with your employer's approval.

be more specific. most hagwons are all after school. 1 pm - 7 pm workdays. After schools through Epik are like state funded hagwons for poor kids. From what I have seen happen to people i know, it is like a normal hagwon environment. Complaints will be the end of you. You will be micromanaged to death. But if you get along well with the students and staff then it is alright. Also through the public school system they never dick with your pay, etc.

Just to clarify, since the OP only said after school jobs, not the specific type, I can offer up some information regarding my experience with having an extra after school job with the MOE I work for.  I don't know much, well frankly anything, about the hogwon side so I can't comment on it.

If the job is through the same MOE that you work for, then it should be fine, assuming you are a public school teacher.

If you are planning on accepting or even considering a job, it is always worthwhile to ask to speak to someone who either currently works there or has worked there in the past to get a feel for what it is actually like to work there as opposed to what you are told it is like to work there.

I have an after school job with the same MOE that I work for and overall I am pleased with it.  It is all a matter of how you value your time and what price you are willing to put on your afternoons/evenings.  For me, given the workload and pay, it is worth it.

Lots of misinformation in this thread.

I'm working 4 classes today.  40 minutes each.  Plan on playing games in all of them. My manager is completely cool with it, I see him about once a week.
So basically from 3-6 I'll be in and out of work for the day.  Oh, I have to sweep the floor so make that 6:05.  Getting paid just as much if not more than Joe Waygook at the hagwon down the street.  I'm on an E-2.

If you have questions about after school programs, PM me.  I won't waste time dissecting all of the misinformation and scaremongering in this thread.

This was not a MOE after school position.  This
was through KASE.  I met a lady who had two
creepy guys waiting around the corner who
ambushed me as we turned the corner.  My intuition which
I trust 100% told me^^ these goons were creepy.
One never did greet me.  He just sat and glowered
at me at the coffee shop.  The other one grinned like
a creepy rapist and all he could do was ask my age.
The creepiest one who looked at me like
hahaha I'm going to mess your life up, you
foreign girl...made an annoyed noise with his mouth
when the lady told him to show me^^ his business card..like it killed
him to reach into his bag and get it...which was probably
just some random business card and not even him.  The three of them
sat there speaking basically ignoring me or looking at me like they were going
to mess my life up.  The creepiest man said he didn't want to
give me health insurance...instead I could have more pay.

I'd be teaching at 5 schools a week. A different school each day
of the week.  One would be a one hour bus ride away.  I could just imagine
the housing they'd probably give me and I couldn't imagine
those two creeps knowing where I live.  I was actually sick last night after meeting
these two guys.  No one has ever given off such an evil aura like these two guys.  I swear
they must be rapists or some kind of criminals.
