Dolittle

I've gotten into this habit of not watching the trailers of movies and going into theaters as blind about the plots as I can be, so the only thing I really knew about this film is that Robert Downey Jr. and Antonio Banderas were in it.

Big regret. It's a good family film for people with young kids, but it's a big nope for me.
Fuckk. Really? I'm seeing it on Sat with the GF.
The first thing to say is that this is definitely not pyramid selling, OK?

I hope you're going with your gf's daughter or else most of the entertainment you're going to get out of this film is how cheesy it is, lol. They also tried to establish Downey's character as eccentric and charming by having him muttering and chittering a lot, but it just came off as weird and annoying to me.

Tbf, though, I've never been a fan of films that star humans with animals that have human-level intelligence, so to each their own, haha.

No daughter, she's with her dad. It'll be in Cheonan so my choices of film are limited to a large degree. I'm seeing Star Wars tonight, Portrait of a Lady on Fire on Thursday, so it's slim pickings.

Jojo Rabbit, 1917 and Little Women all have Feb release dates, so I'll have to wait. Also, The Graduate is getting a re-release. Def gonna see that on the big screen, that is one of the best framed movies EVER.

Eric Clapton has a doc coming out next week and I'm debating going to see Pain and Glory. haha I'll power my Spanish listening skills and my Korean reading skills for that one. Might understand 30%.

Jojo Rabbit, 1917 and Little Women all have Feb release dates,

Shouldn't 1917 be released in the US in 2023, to reflect reality and what actually happened?

World War One started in 1914, the US toddled along in 1917.  Three years later.

Took ten of my friends who all had varying interests in movies and Blade Runner.

Oh ladidah!  Look at you and all your friends.  I officially call for you to change your username to CO10.  :P

What? Us having the good sense not to get bogged down and losing the flower of our youth during most of the slaughter and then waltzing in and getting an easy victory and a massive seat at the table?

And now when people select "English" as the language option, it has an American flag.  8)

I forgot how incredibly sad Eric Clapton's life was.

Just saw his documentary at CGV SoundX Yeouido. Good little romp though history. Sound was tight on the screen, given it's SoundX. Shed a few tears.

He kind of reminds me of me, a hopeless romantic with self destructive tendencies.

He's much better at guitar though.

...just finished up Joker.

I have to say...Juaqin Phoenix always falls under the radar as a very good actor....not this time.  In addition, the original score was well suited of the movie.

I enjoyed it...I waited until I could see it online and it it did not disappoint...not one bit.

Watched "Parasite" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".

Was expecting big things from all the hype about Parasite but I thought it was just a decent enough movie. Only a nudge above a half-decent K-drama.
I much preferred Snowpiercer from Bong Joon-ho to this. I would not even consider it as close to being excellent as "Memories of Murder" was.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a much better viewing experience. Great leads by the main actors and supporting cast, a meandering plot that held together and some wonderful framing and a bouncing soundtrack.

It was a decent movie, but I was more irritated by what it was trying to say; The poor usually have no choice but to resort to nefarious methods in order to stand a chance of acquiring what those who've been born into wealth have, and they deserve some measure of empathy.

In Korea, the rich own the casinos and the house always wins, so why challenge them at their own game? Guy down the street took out a loan and opened a car wash, his business thrived. He expanded and opened a laundromat and sweet shop adjacent to a large school, the guy's killing it and he never went to university, he took a chance.

I just saw Green Room, on some lists of best horror films of the 2010's, and it was pretty good, somewhere between Saw and Get Out, yet a step less than either.

Motherless Brooklyn

I liked it more than I thought I would. A lot of it was disappointingly flat, which is a shame given the casting power this film had, but it's worth watching.

Boy did I crap watch on Finnair.

On the way to Helsinki -

Hobbs and Shaw - Go fukc yourself.  I had to cleanse myself of that crap so I watched...

Prometheus - Jesus.  I had to cleanse myself of that crap so I watched...

The Hangover 3 - Slowly cleansed but seriously not good, so to cleanse me of that I watched...

The Hangover 2 - Lord help me, getting better, but still I needed a good cleanse of all that nonsense so watched...

The Hangover - Feeling slightly more cleansed but still, I couldn't shake it being too much like an inferior 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'.

Then we landed....

On the way back...

Dr Strange - hmm, just your usual Marvel n'shit.

IT Chapter 2 - Possibly the least suspenseful or scary film I've ever seen.

Thor Ragnorak - Usual Marvel nonsense.  Didn't finish because...

we landed...

Watched a boat load on Emirates, but none of the comic crap they pump out.

Best film of 2019 IMO was the Green Book. Bloody good movie. Get Out, Parasite, Lost in Translation, Truman Show, Green Mile among others.
Haven't you got some pictures of birds to be jacking off to, son?

Colburnnn: Complains a lot, very sassy. Has a loudmouth.

Was that going to England?  Crikey, I stopped Emirates after using them a couple of times.  Just too long on the plane.  What is it 9 hours and then another 8 or so?  Too long.  They better have good films to fly with them.  I got bumped up to business once with them and it was sweet.
