I love The Beatles and believe they are the greatest, most influential, band that has ever existed.  Although they are not my favourite band.

Led Zeppelin kicks their ass. Plant on vocals and Page on the guitar.
Add to that the greatest drummer ever, John Bonham, and Jones
on keyboards. These guys defined the "spectacular" concert. The
Beatles did nothing that wasn't done on a smaller scale by less
successful groups.

I should say that the Beatles writing was amazing and the melodies they
created were legendary. But when I was young if your parents and grandparents
thought a band was good, then it wasn't. The Beatles were a little too mainstream.

Whole Lotta Love.

Years ago the first SAW horror movie was well made, spurring the franchise. I gave up after 3. Ugh. But someone said the recent 10 was different but one of the best. I just watched half of it and was impressed for about a third of the way, then couldn't stomach it afterwards.

I'd rather re-watch a 3-minute parody of the original: https://youtu.be/Tele-K-sMbc?si=pAF5FnPXobxznKPr

Night of the Hunted (2023)
Outpost (2022)
Pet Sematary - Bloodlines (2023)
Haunted Mansion (2023)

I honestly liked all of these movies, but Outpost was a little too disjointed (I get why and what they were trying to do here, but I found it predictable and I feel like it was trying to be as unpredictable as possible? So kind of a missed mark imo, but maybe that's just me.)

Pet Sematary - Bloodlines is its own movie and should be watched with that in mind. It's not a prequel to Pet Sematary, it's more of a reinvention. So old fans of the original movie or its remake are going to be pissed if you don't like change.

The Haunted Mansion remake is much better than the old Eddie Murphy film. Worlds better. But while it is a family film, it might be a little scary for younger kids. Danny Devito is so cute in this film, though.

Night of the Hunted was probably the most interesting film on this list for me. I can't say what I liked most about it without completely ruining it, though, so I'll just say that this is a politically-charged and dialogue-heavy film, but the plot itself is driven forward by survival.

I got about halfway through 'Pet Sematary' before I quit. I was a fan of the first (and the book esp), but I guess I was like what you said...I watched it thinking about the original and it just didn't gel with me.

I've just DLed 'Night of the Hunted'. I'll have a look tonight.

Looking forward to 'Killers of the Flower Moon'. I'm about to start the book.

I watched an Aussie movie called 'The Royal Hotel' last night. It starred Julia Garner...Ruth from Ozark...and was about 2 girls on holiday in Australia who run out of cash. They get a job at an outback pub in a mining area and have to contend with all the strangeness that goes with it.
Not a bad movie...funny at times and a little sinister in parts, but it never quite got there, wherever there was meant to be. Worth a look...6/10 because I like Aussie movies.

Sent my granddaughter packing after being here for 5 days with a mild case of the flu. So, my wife and I had hunkered down with chocolate, ice cream, cookies, and chicken nibbles for a movie night.

Movie 1: The Equalizer 3. Enjoyable because you know what you are getting...not quite as good as the others but still had us glued to the screen. 6.8/10

Movie 2: The Burial: Good cast and while not bad, it didn't reach any heights. Mind you, it was based on a real story, 6/10.

Movie 3: Planet of the Apes (the original): What can I say? Still love it after all these years. Only got half-way through before I realized that my wife had drifted off. For me always a 9/10.

That's fair. Bloodlines is a pretty hard left, as far as the source material goes. I figured fans of the book and older movies wouldn't appreciate the changes, especially since there's a lot that gets lost as a result of these changes. But tbf, it's an okay horror movie if you can watch it as its own thing rather than as a part of the Steven King universe because it's definitely not a part of his universe anymore, it's just kind of "related" to it now, so in my mind they can't really be compared in the same way.

But then I also have a pretty low bar as far as horror movies go, haha. So many of them are just so ****** awful on purpose that I tend to give passes to anything that's at least halfway decent. xD

Also looking forward to "Killers of the Flower Moon". I want to read the book, too, but I'm going to hold off until I watch the movie.

I just finished watching THE CREATOR (2023), a very good sci-fi film about AI and humanity, with lots of action, scenic settings and great acting in dramatic moments (an Academy award nom likely to come for one cast member). The last half hour or so is actually the best.

I watched The Killer on Netflix.  It was good enough to pass the time.  Nothing riveting about the story.  It picks up after the first twenty minutes or so.  Having to listen to him drone on about his life philosophy while waiting for something to happen was tedious.  If that was the intention to show how waiting for the right moment could be tedious, it was a success.

Anyways, the Easter egg for me was recognizing the names that were used on his various identities.  You definitely have to be a certain age for some of them.  I challenge anyone to tell me who Reuben Kincaid was without Googling it.  I thank after school reruns as a kid for my knowledge.

I can tell you...Reuben Kincaid was the guy on the 'Partridge Family'. He was the band's manager.

Yeah, like you I thought 'The Killer' was good but not exceptional. And you are right, the first bit was pretty average. Even the misses was starting to look at me sideways, but it picked up.
Those fake IDs also cracked me up. I don't know if younger people would get half of them. My wife certainly didn't.

You know, there are entire communities of people for whom the Beatles are basically a non-entity. Even back home. Only someone who lived a very...segregated life could think that the Beatles really were as influential as some believe they are.

For starters, at least in terms of rock, SPQR is right. Led Zeppelin smokes the Beatles.

Second, you can't even f*ck to any Beatles songs.

Third, Motown>The Beatles.

Finally: Newsflash- We're living in a Motown world, not a Beatles one in 2023. Look at music right now and across the globe. Rock is dead. What Motown birthed continues to this day.

Name one Beatles song you can f*ck to. Maybe Come Together if you're high as f. That's it.

Beatlemania- A total nonevent in the Black Community, whose own music it was focused on, the legacy of which is now the dominant musical forms at present.

Sweet, I just noticed this:

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Another reboot nobody asked for and nobody wants. American movies are
becoming the toilet of entertainment these days. Talk about a complete lack
of original thought and creativity.

Faekin' disgrace.
