Simpsons Bomb/Jeopardy Review Game
« on: November 24, 2010, 11:43:27 am »
I took this idea from http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,2259.0.html, but have pimped out and modified the game.  Attached is a Simpson's bomb/jeopardy game.  It has categories and 31 questions.  The questions are specific to my review (for next week, a week before finals), so you have to change them.  In addition, feel free to modify the images, scoring, rules, and so on.  Just don't change any slide orders or the hyperlinking will be messed up.  Enjoy!

EDIT: I found 2 broken links in the PPT and fixed them.  NOTE: Question K links to the last slide in the ppt.  It is best to check which questions links to which slide to make life easier when editing.  I also noticed this PPT has sound, which was left over from the original version.  I hate PPTs with sound!  I haven't removed it yet, but if it bothers you like it bothers me, either remove it or turn your sound off! :)

Installing the Simpsons Font
« Reply #5 on: December 02, 2010, 08:05:00 am »
How do I install a font for Windows?
Before you install any fonts, make sure that all your applications are closed.

   Windows 7:
Unzip the file that you downloaded. To unzip, right click on the file and choose to "extract" the contents to a folder.
Right click on the extract font file and choose the option to install the font.
   All other versions of Windows:
Unzip the file that you downloaded. To unzip, right click on the file and choose to "extract" the contents to a folder.
You should find the .ttf font file(s) inside the folder of the extracted zip file.
Go to Start > Control Panel
Double-click the Fonts folder.
Browse in your hard drive for the fonts you wish to install.
Select the fonts (.ttf files) that you want to install and drag them into your fonts folder.

How do I install a font for Mac?
Before you install any fonts, make sure that all your applications are closed.
Extract the .sit file that you downloaded using Stuffit Expander.
Locate the fonts you want to install inside the extracted sit file.
Select the fonts that you want to install.
Locate the System Folder and drag and drop the font files into the Fonts folder.
If you have the Font Book application, you may wish to install the fonts using Font Book instead.

It's just a personal preference.  I don't like using sound effects when I am teaching or playing games.

A variation on this lesson, ideal for lower level classes but successful throughout all grades. I used it as a fun filler around exam week, but you can beef it up with worksheets etc.

The lesson is on basic family vocabulary. After we went through the vocab I showed them two short Simpson's Halloween clips (Clips 2and 3 - The Gremlin and Dracula):

The Bomb game is based on the vocab and the clips.

I just took the same PPt and edited. made the questions more general and not book focused.

can be used with any grade but it's not really for low levels
if you want to edit the slides:
letter k-goes to the last slide
slide 33 isn't used. it's just keeping the place of the others slides . . .(it should have a question about beast)

great job with the simpsons ppt
