How are the drops different than the softgels? Do they work better? How do they compare? Thanks.

I'm interested in the COQ10 products but not sure which one is best one to try.  I've heard about good quality CoQ10 and some cheap quality ones too.  It seems that something called "Kanetka" CoQ10 is a good quality.

Also interested in honey.  Again, same thing.  Some cheaper types of honey and some really high quality ones.  It seems "manutka" honey is one of the best.  Still not sure yet.

Oh, and if anyone else wants a $5 coupon here is another code for you: ZAM598

I think that I will order the drops next time and compare them to the softgels.

The difference with respect to bioavailability is probably minimal; some people just find it easier to take it in liquid form.

What is the deal with COQ10? My only experience of it  is an interview Mecola did with some guy and it's best to take anything Mercola says with a grain of salt (though, you can't go wrong by taking his advice, just that some of his advice is self serving, not wrong per se). What is it good for?

Well I'm fairly new to CoQ10 too, but it has been talked about for the past few years (esp. in cosmetics as a anti-aging or wrinkle reducing agent).

CoQ10 is a co-enzyme that is in every cell of our bodies.  It is required in the mitochondria in the ATP producing process (energy production).  Apparently there has been some research (but very small) that seems to indicate CoQ10 is good for the heart.  It protects against irregular heartbeat, heart failure, and heart disease.  Some of said it hasn't done anything better (no change) and some tests have shown those who took CoQ10 had slightly better results.

It's also a super antioxidant (fights against premature aging) but honestly I'm not sure about the claims.  The good news is that CoQ10 is a natural co-enzyme that our bodies produce and use everyday (but in small amounts...about 10-20mg per day).  The pills/capsules are in the form of 60mg, 100mg and upwards to 200mg....but I heard that too much CoQ10 also seemed to produce the opposite affects.

They also say they are still unsure about the potential benefits of CoQ10 which seems to indicate there is more to be discovered about it's benefits or uses.    But yes, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.  Most of it could just be hype.  After all, anything our bodies produce, we should probably just leave at that....anything more could be detrimental.

-omega-3s (all-year round)

http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Ultra-Omega-3-500-EPA-250-DHA-180-Softgels/8341?at=0

My blood stats (cholesterol and blood pressure) improved drastically ever since I started taking this despite an increase in body fat percentage (compared the 2010 and 2011 health check reports).  I take 3 capsules a day.

-vitamin D (winter only)

I use the NOW brand, although I'm sure any brand will do.

____________

If you don't eat enough fruits and veggies regularly, consider a multi and a greens supplement. Whenever I don't eat at least five servings of veggies and fruits, I take a multi- and a greens supplement.

I prefer a multi- derived from natural sources, although I know certain nutrients such as folic acid are better absorbed by the body if they're made synthetically.  Read more about natural vs synthetic nutrients here: http://www.precisionnutrition.com/all-about-vitamin-supplements

I buy New Chapter's multi: http://www.iherb.com/Search?kw=new+chapter

Also, if your diet lacks veggies and fruits, then your body probably is acidic, which may cause health problems such as bone and muscle loss. A greens supplement can improve the acid-base balance in your body.  Read more here: http://www.precisionnutrition.com/all-about-greens-supplements

I take Green Vibrance.
