« on: April 23, 2007, 03:53:47 pm »
Hey Folks,

My extra classes this semester are killing me. I have 31 students. Grades 1, 2 and 3 in the class, some can speak/understand/read NO ENGLISH while others have level with decent converstational skills. I've chosen a variety of lessons from sandwich making to music..but i feel that every class flops and drains me. Any suggestions????

Try numbers?  You can do this over and over with different ways.
-Bingo (always a hit)
also there's this game "Sam-Yuk-Ku" (3-6-9).  They'll know the rules without needing further explaination.  Just tell them to play in English.  You can easily kill 20 minutes with it.
rules are as such:
in a circle, people take turns saying the numbers
1, 2, *clap*, 4, 5, *clap*, 7, 8, *clap*, 10, 11, 12, *clap*, etc.
Every time any number has a 3, 6, or 9.  You must clap instead of saying it and the next person continues the count.  If there are two (for example, 33, 36, 39) you clap twice.
I've done this in my math-lesson before.  They'll do it on their own even if you have like 6 groups of 5  :)  And take turns going from table to table joining in on the game.
