Hi all,

Since I teach at a Christian school, I feel as though I have to be a bit more careful about the material I present to my students.  I have taken out the bombs and guns and replaced them instead with snakes and whips.  I also replaced the UK underwear with a regular UK flag in the shape of the UK.  Hopefully someone else can also make use of this edit.  Thanks for the great powerpoint!

EDIT: the last version I uploaded I forgot to change the bombs and guns for the country questions.  This new version has all of it modified.

I've tried downloading every PPT in this thread but none work.  It comes up saying that Win32 is not supported on my computer.  Anyone got any hints to help me?  Some PPT's work on my computer but not all and I have no idea why not.

I am really confused about this game. kids read the question. they say an answer. i click to reveal the right answer. easy.

but then.... what do i press to give the points? because the hearts / guns / bombs are already on the screen?

am i being stupid?

I tweaked it a little bit, and used for my high school grade 2 classes, and they LOVED it.  My co teacher asked me for the powerpoint so she and the Geography teacher can use it.

I tried this lesson last night with my new after school class (club activities). It’s only 4 students so we missed out on my favourite interaction of when the students choose which team to shoot but this was hands down the most fun I have had in the classroom.

It helped that the students personalities would make them ideal for a reality show (smart but serious one, sweet but dumb, dumb but confident, smart with short temper) because they were absolutely hilarious. One team would always take about 5 or 6 minutes of intense negotiations before giving the usually wrong answer but the much superior team over reached and lost 3 lives and the game on an Ocean question.

Queue the undeserving winners breaking out a victory dance interrupted by the smart but serious one with a dead pan expression “teacher, teacher….. I am really upset now”. More victory dancing and then “teacher …………. I am angry now”.

So we had to have a replay :)

I gave them the option of going home at 7:30 pm. Club activities are scheduled 6pm to 8 pm but it gets really dark and 8 pm is cutting it fine with some of their busses. THEY CHOOSE TO STAY AND FINISH THE GAME RATHER THAN GO HOME!!!!!

Many of my high school boys found the questions to be tough, but there were always one or two kids in the class who knew the right answers. The girls got into the lesson too, but the game did go a little faster then expected. Adding and customizing the questions are the key, and grouping friends together makes more of an exciting class.

This lesson was really useful but the students need to be a bit more advanced.  Mine struggled with some of the material.

I did a country trivia quiz along with this lesson and it worked really well!

There's a mistake on slide 40.  The slide says every answer is wrong.  The correct answer "Liberty Bell" has a snake.

I haven't checked the snakes and whips version specifically, but I think you might be reading that one wrong? I had the same problem the first time through and it was embarrassing :/ you have to click the colored text to get a picture of the statue of liberty, and that's the correct answer, not the bell on the question page.

Is the power-point not working right for anyone else?   How do you go back to the main screen where the students can choose a question?  Any help is much appreciated.

Holy moly! This game is a RIOT.  Great job, man!

My modifications: I use stamps in my class so for about 10 minutes or so of review I let the students answer questions like, "What is Chile famous for?" in full sentences to get stamps.  Then, to make the game more interesting for all the teams (my girls are really smart and would probably get all the questions right), I don't let one team answer over and over again.  What I do is make the girls write the answer down first, then stand up and show me that they wrote it, then say it.  Any team can try for any question, and it's always a race to see who is first.  Oh yeah, and I DON'T show them the choices on most of the multiple choice questions, which makes it more fun too.
