Hello, This game worked very well for me. Though, I made some changes since it was too easy for my high school class. I made some of the questions more difficult and I also took away some hearts and replaced them with more guns. I also added different sounds. Tell me what you think. Thank you.

Hey,
I just played the game with my first 3rd Grade boys class, and as I'd anticipated they wrecked the class- screaming, shouting, hollering, throwing things, throwing themselves on the floor, beating each other up for wrong answers and alot of friendships broken after each bullet that went off! Basically, it was possibly my most successful class with the difficult to please 3rd grade.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU sooooo soooo much! You're a star! :-*

ps- the question about the oceans: if you click on the first blue question mark, the qustion is about the Atlantic ocean. I thought that was the Pacific (that's what the practice round answer says)... I never did geography at school so please help me out.

love- your biggest fan
Sibbie

Oops! Never mind, I'm a reet (retard)! It is the Atlantic. SORRY. Just had to take a closer look and switch my brain on!

This was a great lesson, thanks for uploading it!

A few changes I made to the .ppt:

  • Added/changed some pictures for the country reviews (like the topless chick for Japan, and added new icons for Germany besides Hitler and beer).
  • Changed the country/continent/ocean buttons to just images in the point review (kept accidentally clicking them, causing them to disappear)
  • Made the animations run a bit quicker and reduced the amount of clicking needed.  Most of the time the text will appear without clicking (excluding the answers, of course!)
  • Also, I think South America has 2 main languages, both Portuguese and Spanish.

All my  middle school students were very involved in this lesson.  We never made it to quick countries list, but it was a great class.  I've attached the altered .ppt, hope it uploads ok.

Indeed. It can be quite disheartening how certain students are of their lack of interest in travel. It makes one wonder why on earth they are being forced to learn English. All this time and effort, just so, if they're lucky, they can work on an information desk in a big city bus station...

I was actually pretty impressed by the knowledge of my students (Middle School grade 2 and 3). There were always at least three people who could give me the answers. So not all is lost! Although, of course, Korea was the most requested country in the game. Just for fun, I pretend that I don't know where it is (hovering around Thailand and the like)... oh, the protests!

Thanks so much for your fun lessons, I am a bit worried about some of your photo choices. I have had to change 2 photos that you have used because they show boobs. I just want you to be aware. I teach all boys so they would have noticed and that could mean trouble.

Hey meganm, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I hadn't noticed.
I've flicked through the PPT again but still cannot find these two photos - can you let me know which slides they are on?

EDIT - found the Japan one; I hadn't noticed that at all.
Then again, neither did my students and I ran it for 18 classes...
Let me know about the other...

Also, my school's pretty laid back with mild sex & violence.

Great idea for a quiz. They went mad for it, as expected.

I cut it down a lot, because i'm only using this as a time filler for the last 20 minutes, and I changed some of the questions because they would have been too easy for my grade 2s. And... Spanish is the first language of South America, right?

I changed the fonts too (Arial).

You are correct, Spanish is a main language of South America.
(I should know, I'm learning it and heading there in a few months)
However, I was looking for the main language (most spoken), which, in information I found, was said to be Portuguese: with 52% control - thanks to Brazil alone.

However, having now checked Wiki  ;) it seems  the information I found was out of date.
Up-to-date - Spanish (193,243,411 speakers)and Portuguese (193,197,164)
It's damn close, though...

Today when a seen a gr. 2 middleschooler label Antarctica as England and Canada as Europe, I realized my lesson had value.

One girl also asked me "WHy did you make Korea so small teacher!?" lol

I found that the you don't have to use the worksheets with this one.  Just review the countries.

Funny to see this post again as I'm doing this game this week. I did this game last semester - worked wonderfully!
