Translation Help Please = 2 lines
« on: November 18, 2010, 12:57:05 pm »
My co-teacher is out today so need some help translating. This is the only day I can go to the police station before 5. I'd like to get my Korean Criminal Background check. If anybody could translate the text below into something I can print out and take to the police station I would really appreciate it. Thanks =)

I would like a Korean Criminal Record Check for "personal use". I will have to turn this in with my application for a public school teaching position. Thank you.

(The personal use part is important) as it says on the app: "On the application form, you should indicate that the document is for "personal use", not employment purposes."

The last time I did this, I just said, "저는 영어 원어민 교사입니까 전과 기록 확인해 주세요. 일 때문에 필요해요". But really, just saying, "전과 기록 학인" works. Or in English. Due to it being a legal requirement, they're pretty used to it.

Ooh ok thanks for the reply. I live in a smaller town so their English at the station is about zero.  What does that mean, 저는 영어 원어민 교사입니까 전과 기록 확인해 주세요. 일 때문에 필요해요?  Thanks for the help =)

That means "I'm an English native speaking teacher<?> Please check my criminal record. I need it for work."

You mentioned you specifically want it for personal reasons, not work right?
Print this off and give it to them. "저는 영어 원어민 교사입니다. 전과 기록 확인해 주세요. 일 때문에 필요가 없지만 개인적인 용도로 사용하려고요. 감사합니다."

This literally means "I'm an English native speaking teacher. Please check my criminal record. I DON'T need it for work, but I'd like it for personal use. Thank you."

I hope this helps ^^

Awesome, thanks sooooo much =)  Ye in the EPIK application it is weird, I don't know why it says to say that, "not for employment purposes, but for personal use" Thanks =)

Criminal Record Check means "범죄경력자료회보서" in Korean .
You can say, " 범죄경력자료회보서 발급 받으라고 왔어요. 영어 원어민 교사로 일 필요하다는데.. " Sorry, I'm not good at all in Korean grammar. I got one this document needed for my citizenship. It will take about 30mins more or less. (no need to pay of anything)
