Book Club for teachers

I have a teacher's class two or three times a week, so I started a book club. So far, we've read three books, and now we're working on Matilda. I make discussion questions for each reading. I find it helps the teachers to remember details from the story. I've attached questions for The Alchemist, Holes, Number the Stars, and what I have so far for Matilda. I'll update with more from Matilda when I can. I hope this helps!

 I've written a lot of questions, so please double check spelling an grammar before you hand these out. I'm often in a hurry when I'm writing them.

A couple of the folders are missing one reading. I'm sorry, I must have neglected to move them to my new computers. But, you won't have much work to do!  :D

Wow, this is such a great idea! I'm going to pitch a book club idea to my teacher's class and see if they're interested :)

i have been doing The Boy in the Striped Pajamas with my teachers. I have worksheets up to Chapter 13.

Chapters 14-17

Didn't get around to making worksheets for 18 - 20 cos the term finished and the teachers wanted to start a new book.

this semester for my  teachers' class, we are reading Mitch Albom's For One More Day. every class, i assign about 10 pages to read and we will discuss about the reading the next class. the teachers enjoy the book a lot.

@hellomykimchi your mitch albom document was awesome! trying to play around with ideas to spice up the adult class, & I might see how they feel about introducing this!

I thought I'd add to this topic because why not keep all the book topics together? So my teachers wanted to do "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" (thats the book that was on my desk). We got through about 60% of the book by the end of the semester and then no one wanted to finish the book. I think it bored them. SO if anyone finds this useful enjoy. The teachers were mostly intermediate levels.

To what level of students did you teach? CEFR levels please!

I started a book club in my English Corner here at a uni in China. We've read James and the Giant Peach, Danny the Champion of the World, The Naughtiest Girl in the School 1 and also The Tale of the Magi.

I didn't do worksheets for them. They've enjoyed the Danny book and naughty girl books the most : ) as they found they could relate very strongly to the characters.

Who moved my cheese is also a good one ~ I did a week long seminar for teachers about this book. Very easy to understand and a quick read! Teachers all enjoyed it and the book uses some good idioms
