Just a color review powerpoint with mini word color game.  The first few slides will have the students practice a basic color expression.

Then for the color game, the students must remember that they cannot say the word, but rather the color of the word.  There are several slides included, you can swap around to different slides, just use esc and then control+f5 to get the slide you want.

You can tweak the rules of the game, but for my class, I split the class into about 4 teams.  I would have 1 member from each group stand up and compete against each other by saying the color that I have my mouse hovered over.  (usually if you have them take turns reading in sequential order, students start reading ahead).  Students who say the wrong color, or say it too slowly, must sit down.  So just continue hovering over random colors until students are eliminated.  It multiple students hold out for about 30 seconds straight, then just give all teams a point.

The PowerPoint contains English only colors, Korean only colors, and a a mix of Korean and English colors.  Typically, students will make the most mistakes on the Korean slides, since it is their native language and easier to read.

I do a very simple game that works with the days of the week as well as the months of the year. The only thing you need is a soft plushy ball you can throw around. Take 10-15 students and have them stand in a circle. Teacher stands in the middle with a ball and passes the ball to one student who must say the first day of the week (T can designate which day this is, I usually like to mix it up). Student passes the ball back to the teacher who passes it to another student in the circle (note: students never pass the ball to each other) who must say the next day of the week and pass the ball back to the teacher. I like to make the game interesting by faking them out, or focusing on one student for a while to try and get him/her out.

Students are out if they say the wrong day of the week or if they drop the ball. Every time a student is out, the teacher must start again by saying "Start with Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, etc."

thanks for the restyled simpsons template, my kids loved it! I have Word 2003 so some of the hyperlinks weren't working so I fixed those and added the answers. Make sure you explain if something happens every monday, to add an "s" (I have English class on Tuesdays).

There are some really well intentioned NETs on here that are editing the more advanced Mario games and the like without realizing they are posting games with broken links and missing back to board buttons.  PLEASE, PLEASE, check the games before you post them. I check them anyway but sometimes in a pinch I go on here and pull up a game for a quick fix and they don't work properly. The Mario slides are really advanced (at least they seem to me), I would suggest being very careful when changing content and reposting.

Thanks for this.  I used this, and my students loved it - they thought it was hilarious!  However, this isn't full-screen.  So if anyone ever wanted to get the full screen version, they would need to download the file embedded in the webpage by using a Firefox Add-On (like FlashGot) and look for the file goisubject.swf and view it with GOM Player.  Sorry, can't upload the file, swf files are blocked.  However, you can try the MediaFire account as I will be uploading it shortly.

UPDATE: Just added the file to the MediaFire site.  I hope it works out for your class!

Did you try opening with GOM Player?  The program should be able to play it.  Even if the file is not automatically associated with it, you should be able to open it by right-clicking on the file, having your cursor move to 연결 프로그램 -> GOM Player.  I hope that helps!

EDIT: My co-teacher didn't even have it (only the audio version of GOM, but not video)! In case you don't have it, get it here http://file.naver.com/pc/view.html?fnum=270432&cat=43  Click on the icon that says 일반 다운로드 (the second icon to the left).  This should view any common video file except .mov
EDIT #2: I found an English version of GOM Player if you think the schools wouldn't mind you installing it. http://file.naver.com/pc/view.html?fnum=269277&cat=43.  Same situation on where to download. Click on the icon that says 일반 다운로드 (the second icon to the left).

You can also Right Click on the video > View Source > Find "goisubject.swf" and it will give you the direct link to the video: http://www.genkienglish.net/goisubjects.swf

I'm just doing this lesson now, and it fits in perfectly with the 노부영 that we are doing as a supplement to our class! So, in the 3차시, it's writing, and I'm planning on using Eric Carle's "Today is Monday", and then playing a "Blazing Pens" game with the class.

To play the Blazing Pens, each team will need a white board, marker, and an eraser. (Don't give them the markers or erasers until you're ready to start the game!) Then, show the slides with the scrambled sentence from the song that they've just sung. I usually give the teams ~20secs to write the correct sentence. After each turn, they should pass the marker to the student next to them, so each student in the team has written at least once.

I can't find the exact 노부영 that I use, but this is the song:

I have not seen "My Many Colored Days" but I would like to.  One option is to scan the book, as I have done here with Theodore's "ABC".  I used it for this lesson, but you can use it for any grade, any lesson.  I find all students have cadence and comprehension problems arising from 1:1 translation attempts with woefully inadequate grammar, and need to start afresh at this level.  This is timed, so you can stand up and gesticulate while it rolls.

Hi Ben,

My name is David. Earlier today, I downloaded the (Simpson+game-Reschedule) but now am having a little glitch. What do I click to get to the next number. (For instance, if a student picked #1 and gets the answer to the question, how do I get back directly to the main page with all of the #, so that another SS can choose a number?

It's a great game! Thanks for your help!  David

Thanks for the "very hungry caterpillar" video.  I did it instead of the role play in period four.  I made a powerpoint to teach some of the words and phrases the students might not know.  It is attached.  "Hungry" and "caterpillar" are not in the powerpoint, because I talked about those using the title and flashcards.  The foods aren't in it either.  I printed off flashcards of the food, the caterpillar, the cocoon, and the butterfly from this website:   http://www.dltk-teach.com/books/hungrycaterpillar/felt_fun.htm
I included two separate pears, three separate plums, etc.  I also printed off a flashcard of a stomach ache and two weeks, and used day of the week flashcards my school owns.  This came out to 28 cards, which was enough for almost all my students.  After watching the video one time, I played the video again, but with the screen turned off.  I had the students recreate the story with the flashcards.
