The Images and Words album by Dream Theater.

Honestly, so much of this album is just pretentious bullshit. The lyrics are strung together by one cliche after another (There's a picture of a thousand words? I can see clearly now I'm blind? C'mon! You guys aren't even trying!) Almost everything is made to sound as epic as possible and it does come off of cheesy....

But, God damn...I seriously can't help getting swept off my feet listening to it. Yeah, these guys are pretty good at their instruments but it takes true craftsmanship to come up with music this good...hearing a mixture between an orchestral type of music along with funk, jazz, and metal...it honestly shouldn't work as well as it does.

Just the kind of music I need to listen to to feel inspired, haha

Also got "Stand by Me" on my playlist.  Such a lovely, lovely song.

And "I Will Follow You Into the Dark."  Trying to learn that on guitar.  I basically just need the stamina to play all the way through.  Ugh, stamina.  I love the fingerpickin' songs though.

Ben King or Florence and the Machine?

I've been digging the F+tM cover ever since I first heard it.

The former but now I've added that cover to my playlist.  It sounds honestly magical

I could probably listen to various versions of Stand by Me on repeat for hours

Dunno why but I've been getting way deep into rap lately. I usually like to spread across genres but I think spending my time teaching english in an elementary school and the generally atonal/arrhythmic way my co-teachers speak English has just got my craving that balance of wordplay and beats found in rap.

Anyway, it's J. Cole, Kendrick and Logic for me at the moment. Though Migos got good beats but, imo, generally trashy/meaningless lyrics (so a guilty pleasure for me).

Post Malone's "Congratulation" and Macklemore's "Ten Thousand Hours" & "Can't Hold Us" are my daily grind songs for this month.

Logic's album "Everybody" is pretty dope and I think it's a good diving in point if you're looking to give it a spin.

Went on a Chris Cornell binge in the weekend and found a video of him doing an acoustic mash up of U2 and Metallica, One. It shouldn't work but it does.

Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) by the Kinks.

And I'm still rocking Glass Animals latest offering from last year.

Ultra is in 2.5 weeks, so I'm listening to the Miami sets from Alesso, Hardwell, and Dash Berlin partly to familiarize myself more with their music, and partly to drown out my loud coworkers who haven't shut up since lunch.

All this talk of music makes me increasingly interested in investing in a decent pair of earbuds or headphones.  For some reason I always equated headphones with higher quality than earbuds, but surely that's simply a silly preconceived bias, as I'm sure good quality earbuds exist?  I used to prefer headphones but I think I actually like the earbud style better these days.

I've never spent more than 30 on a listening apparatus but I'm thinking I'd be willing to drop around 100~130 if it meant sweet, sweet music in my ears.

My favorite thing about Beats is how that make my 90Kbps pirated music sound so much better, almost like it's 180Kbps!

My beatsX came with a three month Apple Music voucher. Media streaming is another thing that revolutionized my life after coming to Korea. No more jack sparrow for me, at least until I return to the dark continent with it's shitty, hopelessly overpriced internet.

Any guesses where I'm from? :/
