I've been listening to the album Zombies!!! by Glory Glory (a band from Halifax, NS). It's good music for plowing through schoolwork.

This is sort of related, but I'm a huge music fan.  It's my number one passion,  hobby,  etc.  I would love to meet like-minded music fans here to meet for a drink, talk music with, possibly go to shows with, or even play with (I might be getting a guitar soon).

Some of my favorite genres include indie rock (mostly the melodic variety)  :D,  60's and some 70's era "classic rock" (although I use that term begrudgingly), especially British Invasion bands,  old punk, a little reggae and ska, old school soul and R&B, some hip hop, old country and alt country, jazz,  lots of stuff actually.

Some of my fave bands and artists of all time include:  The Beatles, R.E.M., The Smiths, The Velvet Underground, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Clash,  Elvis Costello, The Pogues, Sonic Youth, Guided by Voices, Belle and Sebastian, Johnny Cash.... the list goes on and on.

More recent favorites: The Decemberists, The National, The Shins, Wilco, Neko Case, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings...

Anyways, contact me if you want to meet and talk music.  I'm looking to make new friends and music is always a good way to start up a conversation.

To answer the question though:
I''ve been listening to the new Wilco  album and Chaos and Creation in the Backyard by Paul McCartney most recently.

Impossible Germany is one of their best songs ever, I believe.  Of course, I know very few of their songs so that means nothing.

My gf turned me onto this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_YfyKahP-0
and can't go wrong with Bowie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unuo-fdhbXs

Anyone ever listened to Godspeed You! Black Emperor before?

Fantastic Canadian post-rock.
Yep, they're amazing. I got Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven back when I was in high school, and that one CD managed to completely transform my musical tastes.

Right now, however, I'm listening to the UNKLE album, Where Did the Night Fall. Good pre-bike ride music.

David Gilmour - On An Island

Awesome solo album he put out 5 years ago. A little spacey and may put some to sleep. It has really helped me to unwind though. Best solo album by any of the 4 members of Pink Floyd. 8)

I would like to thank this thread for www.pitchfork.com -- lots of great rec's there.

Listening to -- That I didn't see mentioned:

Bad Meets Evil - Hell: The Sequel
The XX - XX
Sleigh Bells - Treats
Maybach Music Group - MMG Presents: Self Made, Vol. 1

Spotify is the greatest and worth the money (especially if you have a smartphone).
