If you have an account at the bank in the city, they'll give you an additional discount on the service charge. I have accounts in Wooribank and they gave me a 50% discount on the service charge. Korean airport exchanges give you decent rates but banks can get you better rates if you get the discount.

also, exchange in Korea... Korean won isn't worth much outside of Korea.

Some airports around the world are OK, some are not. Never change money in the San Francisco airport. (A side note, I once got charged 17% in Venice, which turned out to be only slightly higher than other places there.)

What I plan on doing after I leave is exchange a good chuck into dollars (before I go to the airport) and leave the rest in a KEB account with online banking with international transfers enabled. Unless the KRW's absolute piss by then and trends show relative deprecation. Then I get as many dollars as I can.

That or convert all my cash into 100 won coins and chuck them over selected bridges.
