Lessons with awesome funny videos
« on: April 19, 2013, 05:56:21 pm »
It's hard to get my kids to pay attention, but if it's funny, that's half the battle won.

For example:

You have to have some kind of stone cold heart not to find that hilarious.

How do you use funny / weird videos in warm-up games or even full lessons?

The only thing I can think of is for someone to stand with their back to the screen while the kids describe what's on the screen. But they'll resort to Korean unless I give them some incentive to speak English.

I recently did a lesson on Advanced Adjectives.  I showed a YouTube video on "Greatest Ultimate Frisbee Catches."  The students loved it because it had nothing to do with English and it was a sport the students had never seen before.

Afterwards, I had them to give me words to describe Ultimate Frisbee (Ultimate Frisbee is ___________ ).  I wrote all of their adjectives on the board and we used that as a jump-start into some more advanced adjectives.

Found this very awesome website and I'm going to use this lesson plan on animals for my MS1 students.

Guess I'll save peanut butter dog as a time-filler until I think of a game.
