4th Grade Review - (Vande Voort Heidi Marie)
« on: June 21, 2011, 06:02:02 pm »
Hey all. I just adapted this awesome Starcraft powerpoint I found in the 3rd grade index posted by jamlove. I'm planning on making reviews for my other two schools as well, so I suppose, be on a lookout for those? They'll be up within the next two weeks, I think.

It's a review for lessons 1-6 for 4th grade. You can make it easier or harder depending on the level of your students. I made all my kids bring their notebooks (they weren't allowed to help their teammates in English though I sometimes allowed Korean translations). If a student answered a question incorrectly the entire class had to write the correct answer down. (I'm a harsh teacher. :D) Then we'd move on to the next team.

If you run the game the way I did, just be forewarned the following event may occur, the bad sports will yell and their friends will cry. But I believe the writing is good practice for them. And most times the class won't complain about the writing (the other 20 kids will be too happy the other team didn't score any points). But if your class is really low level and they miss just about every question, they will start to get upset.

Just finished making a practice test with key. :) I've only tested it on two of my fourth grade classes today. The one that had trouble focusing had a majority who couldn't finish it and the first class who could focus had a majority complete the test.

Please feel free to modify the test however necessary to fit the level of your students. :)

Here are two PPT's for the phonics covered in the Grade 4 text book and a bomb game to practice the phonics.
My students found both were an entertaining way to learn phonics

Here are two review power points and games I used to review the panda & trumpet man 4th grade book. This was for lessons 1&2, 3&4.

Just a basic mario and bomb game that I've tweaked from other power points along the way.

I made a review for Lessons 9, 10, and 11 using the Gangnam Style Bomb Game. I've also attached a ppt I made to practice writing and listening, covering the same chapters. I just gave each group a white board, played music (they can only write while the music is on) and started easy (eg write the word) and got gradually more difficult (eg "My dog is pink.")
