Well, it's too bad John Stossel didn't include it in this video!

Thanks for wasting six minutes of my life!

you deserve it for clicking on a stossel video in the first place tbh

I actually watched it, as I have a bit of a morbid fascination with these, thanks to L I. I'll summarize for everyone:

Some black people published some children's books that no one was forced to read.

Some black historians and lawyers talked about the role of racism in American history.

A mom in Virginia likes screaming at school board meetings.

The end.

Bull.  It's nothing close to equal.  Either now or historically.  The ALA and other groups have been following attempts to remove books from libraries for decades, and aside from the occasional (wrong-headed, IMO) "n-word" objections to Huck Finn and TKAM, a few racist stereotypes, it is ALL from the Right.  And it has been ever since they started watching!

False equivalence, period.  Not even to mention that fighting against racism/sexism/ageism is a good thing, denying they even exist by removing speech about them is a bad thing!

And then "canceling"--what does that mean, exactly?  Alan Dershowitz claims he's being "canceled" because people don't invite him to parties anymore.  That is NOT canceling, that is people exerting their right not to have Trumpist scum-buckets in their home, isn't it?

To say that it's ALL coming from the right really only applies to a narrow stream of censorship attempts (book bans, targeting teachers, etc.). I don't think anyone can or should deny that left-wing college campus and social media activism have taken a more censorious turn over the last decade or so.

You're right, though, that "cancelling" is difficult to define. There are lots of people who've been "cancelled" who are nonetheless all over the media, raking in tons of money (often by exploiting their martyr status). There are some people who were let go from their jobs as kind of a hasty overcorrection by a big corporate employer, without any huge groundswell of voices calling for that kind of action. And there are some people who experienced a bad week when they said some dumb shit and lots of people talked about it on social media, but it didn't really have any long-term impact on their careers.

Had it come from LI, I wouldn't have bothered.  But T. Rex virtually promised "Florida's DOE found examples of CRT in new math textbooks".

Hey, T Rex, why you lyin' like that?!?  I know you're a Trump supporter and it comes with the territory, but there's not a math book in the whole dang video!

You're saying that left-wing movements across the globe haven't engaged in censorship when they came to power? That is remarkable claim.

Dude, if you can't even see or acknoweldge the rise if left-wing censorship and attempts to stifle debate, speech and expression over the past decade or so, then I don't know what to say. You can stick your head in the sand and try and claim it isn't taking place, but you will just come across as every bit the deluded partisan as the most rabid pro-Trumper.

the closest example to something like a true "cancellation" is somebody like nick fuentes who got more or less banned from the banking system. but even then he still gets a free platform from all these youtube podcasters that make playing both sides their personality (and theres like a million of them out there now)
