Hello, I know this has been asked before but 2 and a half years ago I left Korea due to an extremely toxic work environment. I don’t really want to discuss in detail what happened but it was affecting me severely. I didn’t want to leave but I have a health condition and I ended up having to for my sake. I haven’t had a chance to go back since but I was considering next year going back for a visit. Even booked my plane tickets in advance.  Am I banned from Korea? The thing is my supervisor really hated me so I don’t know if she reported me to immigration. I handed in my ARC at the airport and when I called up immigration she told me if I hand in my ARC I should be able to come back but I am worried and scared I wouldn’t. I would only return as a tourist for a few weeks. I also left posters I taped on the wall so maybe she’ll find some excuse to sue me for damages? But I didn’t damage anything . I left mid contract by the way so 6 months in.

A toxic work environment lead to health issues. And the person clearly stated they are only looking at coming back as a tourist for a short visit.

To the OP, you will have no problem coming in just because you did a runner.

You will have absolutely no problem coming back to Korea on a tourist visa. The Hakwon will not be notified of your re-entry, as all ties with them have been cut when you left your position and handed in that ARC at the immigration. If they wanted to take money out of you for damages they would have withheld it before you left. They can't sue you for anything now, and while Hakwons threaten to sue teachers, many don't as the legal process would cost them more money then what they wanted to sue the teacher for. Hakwon's change supervisors, staff, management etc all the time and no is after you. You can't even be banned from getting another Hakwon job. I know you want to come in as a tourist, but if you wanted to apply for a new E-2 visa, since it's been over 13 months and the last one has already expired, you could easily get another one.

It's only EPIK (which recruits for the government public schools) that you can get banned from ever getting another public school position if you do a midnight run, or your contract gets terminated for breaking the Korean law etc.
