Grammar of  Tag Questions
« on: September 12, 2023, 11:22:13 am »
Hello everyone,
I've begun teaching general English in a business.
A manager from Ireland wondered if we may use "amn't I" as a tag question or in general queries.
Example: Tag question, I'm clever, amn't I ?
or, in general, 'Amn't I coming with you tonight?
The negative is "I am not" so....?

Because I'm Irish, I know we use this format, but it's more colloquial.
It is not appropriate English, and there are no examples of it elsewhere!!
What do you think, it's simple but it works for me!!

I'm alone in thinking this absurd, aren't I?

Wait, I'm just unaware of an Irish dialect, ain't I?

I am confused, am I not?
