I mean, TBF, most posters on here come across as pretty old, what with dinosaur attitudes on race, gender and being stuck in the year 1981~1992 with their music taste. "Van is an old fuddy duddy who is way out of touch. Now let me make fun of people for being gay, engage in racism/bigotry/misogyny that went out of fashion in the mid-90s, and repost the same bands from the mid 70s over and over again."
I will consider myself severely told off...and will live in the knowledge that had I been a student, you would have paddled my bottom until red
I mean, not you specifically and that will get me one day as well (that train is may be late, but it always arrives, no matter who you are). Just that yeah, we aren't spring chickens either.
Not many 40's people can bike like me (though some can do more).
I remember now the Carol Burnett show (i'd add SCTV except it resurged in the 1990s on cable when The Kids in the Hall rocked). The last NEW black & white FOR SALE i ever even saw for sale... i bought at Zellers in 1987 in my "freshman" year (us Canucks don't use that particular Yankee slang), for $69. I smiled. Dunno if the store was appealing to the local college base with that pricing. My alternative was a $145 color model.End note: the last time i watched shows on a black and white TV was an old episode of Star Trek: Next Generation televised at 3pm daily in 1994. It was strange, given 15 years earlier i watching the original Star Trek in color on my family's Zenith.
What's your average speed?
Before my time, but on repeats 90's and 2000's as a kid. I remember the guy. He was pretty funny. He played many characters. Tim Conway? www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qqE_WmagjY
Well, I meant distance wise and length of time more than speed. I go a respectable 20 km/hr I think averaged out. A few can go more, but most will go slower.
That's amazing Saffer. Your body must be holding together beautifully. Makes me feel like a poorly conditioned 80 year old in comparison...good stuff!
Most Saturdays I do 30 - 40 km at about 18 Km/hr, could push it more then it becomes a chore rather than a pleasure. I am 70 so I think that is okay. When I retire next year I can concentrate more on my cycling and I will aim to do 30 every 2nd day and once a week I will build up to 50 km. Cycling keeps you young.Back in SA I was a serious cyclist, most days doing 30 before work and weekends doing races of 100 Km plus. Every year in Cape Town there is the Cape Town Cycle Tour which is 108 km of pretty tough going and there are 35,000 international participants. I did it 9x before coming to Asia, wish I could do number 10 but that ain't going to happen as I won't be returning for a long time. The Cape Town Cycle Tour should be on every serious cyclists bucket list. It is the largest timed cycle race in the world and the scenery along the way is awesome. So perhaps Hangook77 can pack up his Giant and cross that off his bucket list before heading to China.
You're 70 years old? Wow! Doing that type of ride is impressive then. I hope I can do that in another 30 or so years.
weigookin74, hangook77. Odds are you are 49, nothing wrong with that just be honest for once. 20 or so years my handsome boy!
Oh yeah? You still a bat shit crazy conspiracy theorist? Looks like your time in suspension didn't teach you anything, huh? Only had one account here, but you seem to keep thinking I have two accounts when I already told you I didn't. I guess you're just stupid or something? Can't read basic English? Anyways, I am assuming you are the one who is 49? I am at 40 so yes, I do have about 30 years to go. I get that math is difficult to you.
Only a real conspiracy theorist gets this question wrong. Which picture is edited and which picture is real?
Anyways, hopefully the rest of you have plans to get out this long weekend coming up. I got wrong posture on my bike and have to rest my knees. No biking for a while and some acupuncture. Get the bike seat up to your hipbone and raise the handlebars if an mtb proportionally. A speed bike you may want at a different angle since you are more hunched over anyways. Otherwise can mess up your knees. Be careful on that. Breaks my heart no biking at the best time of year. But knees will be back to normal soon (no permanent damage). Just passing on the advice and reminding other cyclists to check their seats and proportions for their posture on their own bikes.
