I don't care what anyone says. Southern Yunnan has the spiciest food in China. The peppers they use and the way they process them are just on another level.

Q:
A: Korea would've become independent regardless of the independence movements because Japan got their s*** kicked in in 1945 and had to give up all their imperial possessions anyway. Basically a bunch of people had shit lives, got imprisoned, and died for nothing.

Korea existed long before either of those two things did. Would it have still existed? Would Japan have been able to forcibly integrate Koreans before inevitably its system collapsed? Maybe, but then again we still have Latvians, Lithuanians, etc.

As far as countries existing, I mean the USA owes its existence to France (and to Great Britain) each of which owe their existence to the Kingdom of the Franks or Rome or whoever else you want to credit.

Given Korea's location as essentially a place for two (or four) greater powers to sort out their differences, it's likely it would have continued to hobble along in some sort of semi-independent state as a place for everyone else to hash out their differences.

I mean, North Korea is one of a handful of

It wasn't for nothing at all. That resistance gives you a core of figures to build reformed governments, kick start pro-democracy movements, and in the case of the North, was the basis for those that would come to power.

The Free French, Free Polish, Free Dutch, etc. during WWII were all "useless" as well except for the fact that they gave moral support to the allies, and created a cadre of future leaders and influences in society.

I think most Koreans would agree.

Quote
very polite people.
Do you think this applies to everyone or do you think it varies depending on the background of the person they are interacting with?

South Korea would have been totally steamrolled in 1950 if the US hadn't intervened when it did.

Yes, this is why no one knows who Kim Il-Sung is in North or South Korea.

Most likely. Then again, if the U.S. hadn't held out for maximalist conditions in the terms of Japan's surrender, they might have been able to have a wholely undivided Korean Peninsula to themselves. Of course, we could also go back to the whole primary trigger for the war- The backstab of Great Britain to Japan and the termination of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance. Or British/European Colonialism which motivated Japan to seek empire over isolation.

There's a lot of "what ifs" to play. I mean, in a sense, Great Britain owes its existence to the U.S.

 Canada too.

You're confusing being irked with pity for her. Oh wait, that's all of us, not Koreans.

I corrected my original post. They know who Kim Il Sung was in South Korea but his role in the anti-Japanese resistance often gets overlooked.

Ehh, depends on whom you ask. If they're from Jeolla or Minju supporters...

Heck, half basically think the conservative governments are little more than extensions of Japanaese colonialism.

Damn, boy. I said irk, not cause a riot.

How about the French resistance in WW2? Probably 10 French died for every
German the the resistance killed. Also, the people the Germans executed probably
had nothing to do with the resistance.

But many people said it was worth it.

I assumed you wanted to bait the main man himself, so I summoned him with that belter.

I didn't say it's my opinion, though.

Firstly, I posted this for some badly needed humour, not baiting. Believe it or not.

Secondly, you did have a point. But a controversial one.

Q:
A: I don't like it, it's sickly sweet yet spicy, and it feels like I'm chewing a slimy, old piece of rubber.

Q:
A: I like Japan more, it just has better scenery.

Someone actually said the last one in front of me and some Korean friends, you should've seen their faces. Super dick thing to say though, and it wasn't even in response to a question.

A: Korea's great and all, but they have legal weed in Thailand. The second I'm finished here I'll be on the next flight to Koh Samui.
