At least the guy took initiative to create something.  I admired his drive to do so and I know several folks who had a good laugh.

That's participation ribbon thinking right there.  A full grown adult creates a boring comic strip with the most pedestrian observations and we need to applaud him?  I don't believe that anyone had a good laugh, there was no humour. It was merely a strip where you would think "Yeah, that's true" in the best case.  There was nothing clever about it.  I can just see some hayseed teacher over here printing out the one where Brendan is looking out at the audience with his trademark shrug while a classroom of kids goes apesh*t behind him and says "And they told me kids love learning English", sending it home and telling their mom to "Put it on the fridge and be sure to tell Aunt Gracie that this is exactly how it is over here LOL."

I did not bring up the initial point.  The other poster did.  I was surprised by it. Stick to the facts old boy.

That whole angle of this conversation has been lost on you.  Most of it has gone over your head old chap.  You keep reacting to things that aren't true or serious in a serious manner.  Your maker forgot to add the humour chip.  That explains The Morning Clam.

And Jethro Bodine teaches the culinary arts at his cooking/baking school in an undisclosed location in Korea.  Making fun of him because he's more handy with his hands and an oven than in using them big words like hire is beneath someone who teaches professionally.  You should be ashamed.

Cheers for the plug brother! Some assawted pies, pastries, and Boston buns are being packed up and sent your way as I writ/wrote/writted....ah! whatever the correct word is...

Thank you.  Some people like Fender get on their hi horse and forget that not everyone has got the same book smarts.  I, for one, have a fake degree from Oral B. Roberts University.  I can't write the alphabet without using spell check but I can play Eruption on ukulele.  We all have our strengths.

I've never met anybody who likes the morning clam. In fact it's the worst webcomic I've ever seen (and most of them are shit so that's an achievement).

Perhaps "participation ribbon" level may be applicable.  But, what is it being compared to?  I was certainly (nor anyone else I know) not expecting much, nor was I out to smash it.  Everyone I know that read it had experienced qualities of its humor.  Whether you did or not, is out of my realm.  So..if you don't like, you don't like it.  But, at least it was delivered with in good taste and its subtle jabs were taken as a pick-me-up.

People like what they like.

Have you created anything about your experiences in Korea?  I wish had...well, had done more to be more precise.

Anyway, what does being an adult have to do with the humor and good intent?  All (to my knowledge) great comic strips or one-shots were/are created/written by adults.

Are you trying to create a straw-man?

No matter.  You don't like it.  I get it.

Alright, between spelling "higher" as "hire" and this rambling  gibberish, I am starting to see why some people are thinking you're imbibing.  Adult and straw man?  What?  Of course, I give more leeway to a comic strip created by a child than one made by a grown man.

Was this a Freudian slip? "I was certainly (nor anyone else I know) not expecting much, nor was I out to smash it. "  This would explain your defense of that abomination.

Well boys, I have work to do.  I've enjoyed (I guess) the banter.  But, important tasks await.

You guys enjoy our day!

Cheers! See you later tonight. I didn't work today. Good being the boss.

That is all on you, not me.  We both know that.

Oh, you can keep trying to put our beloved Jethro down because of his lack of education, but you'll never kill his spirit.  When someone throws mud, Jethro makes mud pies.  Attica!!!

I wonder if the Clam guy realizes that his comic would get him run out of town on a rail were he to present it before any kind of liberal/progressive/Gen Z audience in 2023?

Yeah, but more because it just wasn't funny.  Unfunnier than Nancy and Sluggo.

for a zoomer to get offended by that comic they'd have to actually find it first, which i doubt is happening. kids these days aren't reading those sorts of webcomics anymore. they're all reading shitty romance and yaoi on webtoon dot com.

True. Didn't he link to it on his facebook? Not that anyone from Gen Z or even many Millennials would go looking, but yeah, publicly ranting about 1/2 of your daughter's culture and ethnic background, of a culture/background not currently on the West's sh*t list, not a good look and the kind of thing that in certain states, could potentially cause really serious problems. Like, that's the sort of thing mental health professionals, school officials, and judges would take a long look at when factoring certain decisions were some sort of issue to ever arise.

Also, it's rather rich that his final comment was about Koreans giving his daughter sh*t over being mixed, when he sort of is doing the same thing about her identity, in public.

If that's who he is full-time, dude is pretty much a POS in my opinion. Hopefully going back home mellowed him out and he could reset and that was just a phase of frustration.

I always felt that The Morning Clam was written for some young westerner who had never had a girlfriend until he came to Korea and found a domineering Korean gf.  I see them jumping up and down in excitement pulling their puds and exclaiming 'That totally happened to me!!!"

If that's the target audience, then fair enough I guess.
