Waygookers Rage
« on: July 26, 2023, 11:41:16 am »
Where do the feuds come from?  Is there an epicenter?  At which point did the grudges manifest?  Does anyone know or remember?  Augstiner does not wish to answer: fair enough.  Voit logged off:  fine (though, I've seen a few offensives on his part at another poster).  If some of you were in the same room, would you act the same towards each other?  If a fight broke out, I wonder who would win....

Are there folks outside these little feuds that can offer any clues?  Or...is this all that makes Waygook the cancerous afterbirth of Dave's?

It all started back in that ye olde expat bar in a little-known neighborhood known as Itaewon. You know, back in the day when foreigners in Korea didn't have anywhere else to hang out. Every Friday at 4:40PM sharp, Augustiner and JonVoightCar would arrive from their back alley hagwon jobs and exchange a slight nod or perhaps a 'good evening' as is customary among the 'waygook' type in those parts. Then one day, one of them didn't reciprocate. Some say it was Augustiner who initiated the ritualistic salutation and was cynically snubbed. Others say JonVoightCar was the one who was ignored in a disrespectful manner. Some say the bar was just busy and noisy, and one party simply didn't notice the other. Either way, they haven't been able to see eve-to-eye on anything ever since. It's sad really. I hope one day they can bury the hatchet and be loose acquaintances at the expat dive once again. Until then, you will have to read their constant arguments about these terrifying "ghost foriegners" that give JonVoightCar nightmares and about how Augustiner is a terrible ignorant racist.

Good question.  What feuds are you referring to?  Or does trying to ratchet up some online back and forth that regularly happens on boards like this into a feud count?  I can think of plenty of arguments and insulting going on here.  Most of it meaningless.  Never heard anyone try to paint something as a feud for their own amusement before.

Unless you're talking about ESL Cafe.  Man, did that place have some hateful vitriolic threads.  This place is much more congenial.  Unless of course someone is being a tw*t.  You choose the vowel.

I get that you are trying to paint DMart's and my interactions as a feud.  I don't get the why, but it's painfully obvious you're making an effort to overreach here.

If I could add on to your question, why do passive aggressive people try and create conflict, and then back away and deny that's what they're up to?  I think you're well positioned to shed some light on that subject.  Marti and I are one and done for the most part.  Marti is probably having less fun than I am during our interactions, but I bet after a few angry cigarettes he has moved on to some other person's infractions.  It's just that the board is quiet today.  Just wait until Marti reads that Jethro said Koreans don't walk straight.  It'll be Hatfield and McCoy time for you there O'Fender.

A fair retelling but you forget the Broken Truce of '011 at Seoul Pub. A tentative cease-fire had been arranged and relations appeared to be on the mend. Then the treacherous, villainous, capricious Augustiner deliberately ran into my purely coincidentally extended leg, causing him to trip. Reliable sources at the bar confirm my version where it was purely unintentional and accidental, however Augustiner chose to believe the lies spewed by his so-called-friends that I did it deliberately (oddly, my friends and his friends were later seen at the bar doing shots together and laughing. Don't know what that was about). Regardless the only thing that prevented a complete conflagration and the possible destruction of the establishment was a visiting group of Swiss, Swedish and Jamaican tourists who urged "No violence" and successfully intervened. Regardless, from that moment on, I knew he was irredeemable and deplorable.

Now it is over a decade since and hostilities continue unabated. The most dastardly moment was when he managed to co-opt Mr. C into joining his unholy alliance. However, with him leaving the battlefield and out of the conflict, the tables will have turned. Be warned Augustiner, your days are numbered.

Oh, and there was also some argument over a pig that crossed a fence line. 4 dead, 12 wounded. But whatever...

I like that.  Well done.

So...how bout Voit vs SPQR?  Where did that hell-dwelling hate come from?

Back in the bad old days of Dave's ESL cafe, SPQR (who went by the name WeedNBeer4Lyfe69) was having a difficult time finding some special sauce. JonVoightCar (who went by the name MasterDeBator) wrote a five paragraph narrative on how to order said item from the Word Wide Web. JonVoightCar assured him that it was a fairly simple matter, even though it took him five paragraphs to explain all of the steps. SPQR tried it, but gave up when the website asked him to download an outdated ActiveX security certificate. JonVoightCar was incredulous! How dare SPQR deprive himself of gourmet ingredients shipped all the way from exotic places such as Omah, Nebraska lovingly prepared by none other than the sauce master herself Suzie Corndogger? Ever since, JonVoightCar has gone on a vindictive rage and jumped down SPQR's throat every time he dared speak about engaging in his favorite hobbies as a consenting adults on his free time. Hopefully some day they will be able to bury the hatchet. Maybe if JonVoightCar can help SPQR buy his hot sauce, SPQR can share some of his weed, and give him a line on where to get the best company in Thailand.

No dice! SPQR once sold me a bag that I swear he must have stuck a soaked paper towel in the night before because even though it weight 3.5g on the scale, I didn't touch it and the next day it was down to 2.0 Not to mention since when did kine bud have loose seeds and stems floating around? Dude is shady. Also, he's pretty dumb. Like, this one time I emptied out this bottle of Grey Goose I had and filled it with 5 O'Clock and sold it to him as a cheap gift for his brother's birthday. What a moron. Also dude doesn't puff puff pass, more like Thomas the Tank Engine. Hand him a freshly rolled joint and all you get back is a roach. And don't get me started on how many lighters I've lost to this dude. Like damn man, how hard is it to remember you have someone else's lighter. Thank goodness I have my never-ending coffee can full of lighters.

SPQR the Scumbag Steve of waygook.org and nothing can change my mind. No matter how many Natty Ice's we once slammed while rating porn stars and talking about the glory days of Craigslist hookups.

Anyway...hey moderators, can I change my handle to O'Fender?  I like that name. Clever, humorous and ...well, I guess I'm offensive (sadly).

I was thinking Freddy Fender...or even 'Fender' the 'Bender'

Apparently, a poster called LI has fingers of fury.

What is that story?

Take your dossier and shove it down your chode.

Yeah, that was a rockin' forum for a long time. I remember when Dorky Dave
banned all images because of some really disgusting porn that was spammed
on every thread. Also, if you even mentioned moderation quality, it was an
instant ban.

Cohiba, FDNY and a few other usernames came and went on that forum.

Worst part about Dave's was that it was false advertising. Dave's ESL "Cafe"? When I asked for a coffee, all I got was blank stares.

I'm rolling, thank you for the levity.  In fact...I see your post as some sort narrative that would match a comic strip from Land of the Morning Clam.

Well done!

I just looked up this 'Land of the Morning Clam.' Was that meant to be a backhanded insult?

Not at all.  I always liked that strip.  It was a compliment, but I'm sorry you initially took it as such.

Holy sh*T!  I forgot all about that incredibly unfunny comic strip that one poster was always putting up here.  It was always the same thing.  Lame Korean observations with the guy in the final frame breaking the fourth wall and looking at the audience while shrugging helplessly.  Who used to post that?  That would be who Fender is a sock for, I'd reckon.  Everyone else used to condemn that strip.  Man, that was lame.  Billy has every right to be offended that you connected him to that.

That would probably have been me.  Man, that stunk.  I was getting a LI vibe from Fender.  The Hangook77 label wasn't sticking for me.  Hangook couldn't pull off a personality change like that.  So, I guess I know what happened to LI.  He returned as Fender.

Agreed...it's not Hg77, he is what he is for better or worse.
Fender doesn't come off as personable...lots of posts and big words but no defining emotional character is apparent. Whomever they are, they are difficult to get into a 'to and fro' with. Maybe they are just trying too hard?
