Massive Beer Brewing Competition in Busan
« on: May 25, 2023, 08:39:43 am »
Huge new beer competition from Gorilla Brewing and Brew Source Intl!! I'm the PR guy, hehe
So basically, Gorilla wants to make a Master Chef competition this year. Brew Source are gonna send you the malt bill, that cost is on them. Sounds good!
The one stipulation for your beer is that you CANNOT change the malt bill. That's what you need to use, no additions, no subtractions.
Every other aspect of the beer is up to you. Water, hops, yeast, etc.
The 2 brewers who make the final cut will be invited to Gorilla Gwangan on August 5th for a public showdown. (You need to be potentially available for this date.)
All details can be found at @gorilla_gwangan on insta and through me!! Enter and good luck! Google Form below!

I'd recommend Hans' Craft Beers near Beomgye Station.  It's a one off place and as its name suggest has craft beers made by Hans.  Hans is from Austria and he takes his brewing quite seriously.  Depending on the weather I will usually get a masskrug of his mayonnaise infused Satan's Swimmerz IPA, or on a cooler day a flute glass of St. Taint's.  It's a lager with a hint of muskeg.

Speaking of good beer, has anyone tried Hite's latest offering Kelly Lager? A lager created so that we can feel both softness and intense taste with every sip. I highly recommend grabbing a Kelly (short for 'Keep Naturally') at your local CU Mart.

Sounds delicious.  Are these CU Marts easy to find?  I don't like to travel to Seoul on the weekends if I can help it.

You should be able to find one. They're around. I'm only about a 45 minute walk from the nearest to me. There might be one a little closer but that involves a steep hill. I sacrifice the 10 minutes for the sake of a more pleasant walk.

You won't regret trying a can of Kelly. It softly touches the mouth and gives a strong carbonation feeling when it goes down the throat.

I know you're taking the piss, haha, but Craft Hans is okay. It'll do in a pinch. Like Bronx Beer.

August 5th might be the best opportunity for these two to bury the hatchet. Get yourself to Busan on August 5th, Van. Maybe Kevin won't ignore you this time.

I went on a three hour walk with Kevin a few weeks back and he wouldn't talk to me.  And that wasn't nearly as awkward as his encounter with Van sounds.

I had a friend here in Korea that I thought might be Van.  Except this guy didn't touch booze.  But, it was really difficult to mix him with other friends because he wouldn't initiate a conversation with anyone else, and then would complain that no one wanted to talk with him.

If Kevin at least remembers the walk, you're doing better than Van.
