"An Open Letter to Woke Youth"
« on: August 03, 2023, 03:47:18 am »
[i"I]f you are Woke, you are in danger, not from the people you think you need to fight every waking moment of your day but from the people you support. History teaches this. The philosophy you support indicates it. If you succeed, you lose. If your movement fails, unless you make some serious changes, you also lose. That's not an enviable position to be in. In this episode of New Discourses Bullets, host James Lindsay offers you this short open audio letter, hoping you might realize you are on a collision course with History in this movement, and that, as it is said, "History uses people and then discards them."[/i]

Bravo, U.S. public education system (and universities)...bravo.

August, I answered your request.  Chime in, if this does not bore you.

With only 3,100 followers and with the last New Discourse having earned only .10, I don't think history is listening.

The word "woke" died at the same time as COVID came out of a lab. Which is 2019, or never, depending on your perspective.
Help others, especially animals. Say what you think, be considerate of others. Appreciate more than deprecate. Teach well, jump on teachable moments. Enjoy Korea as it is, without changing it. Dwell! Yet, at times, change your life for the better. "The most important [thing] is to have a good day."

Shouldn't "A Letter to the Woke" take the form of a TikTok vid? I mean, that is if you seriously want to influence people, and not just congratulate yourself for opposing those you disagree with. This letter isn't for the woke, it's for those who Lindsay already agrees with.

If he actually tried to make a vid to appeal to people, then I'd respect this effort. I don't care whether or not I agree with it. But as it stands it's about as effective as vegans trying to shame and shout at a bunch of people at the Heart Attack Grill (Most effective would probably be setting up a stand outside that goes "After the fun is over, back to healthy living" and trying to soft sell from there, with a slow burn- but that would require, like patience and not doing something to satisfy your own emotional frustration). Know your audience.

The original part of the above post where you ended with...

"I hoped that you would respond and I'm glad you did."... was way too much, even for me. Poor old Marti is going to start thinking that you fancy him lol.

BTW...where is August?  I did this for him (or her).

I can't tell you that! If I did, then he would come calling at my pie and pastry shop demanding payment for selling him out. You wouldn't believe how many pies and buns Augie 'The August' Augustiner can eat...plus his crew can scoff down a few as well. I'd be out of business.

BUT!

Not one to gossip...I did hear that he had joined a team up on Vancouver Island for a week or two, tracking down Sasquatch, or rather, the last confirmed sighting from July. Van Islander will be joining him over the weekend, given that he has a connection with all the wildlife on the island. He is also the president of 'Find Bigfoot' society, and he can communicate with brown bears and Orca.

If my pie shop goes under because of this information, I'll be looking for you Freddy the O'Fender...and I'm a big boy.

Just let you know...I'm not as a big boy as 77 is...now that's a big boy...buttons popping everywhere  ;D

To be clear: orca don't eat people, brown bears certainly do.

Black bears don't. They want your banana peel. *sniff sniff*

Orcas are awesome. They're such a majestic fish. Back when I was growing up on Vancouver Island (assuming it's still called that, you know how cancel culture can be) we used to walk down to the shore and watch them breach when they came up for air. There was a legend that old man cedric rode one to all the way to Jeju island but I think someone was yanking my chain. Anyway one time a local wrestler by the name of the Blue Meanie went for a swim and the orcas gave him a nasty bite. I guess that's why they call them "killer" whales! LOL!

Orca aren't fish.

There's never been a documented human death in the ocean attributed to orca.

In captivity, after being confined for 7+ years, yeah, they took a few human heads off in moments of intensity/insanity.

What? Of course orcas are fish. They swim in water, so what else could they be? You're just pulling my leg, aren't you? Anyway, the Blue Meanie didn't die. He just got a nasty bite and had to have his foot amputated. Another wrestler tried to save him but couldn't reach him in time.
