This coming week I have to start working with multiple classes of handicap students. I have no experience in this regard (if you don't count the odd student or two back when I worked public school) and I made it clear to my director that I have no experience working with kids in this way (he insists it's the same).
My director already showed me some videos and lessons from his other teachers. Showing that it's just constant repeating of the vocabulary and physical activities while trying to reinforce said vocabulary. It seems simple enough on the surface but I know it's not going to be in practice. Does anyone have some realistic advice for what's to come? My director is paying for and providing me with all sorts of materials, but I personally still don't feel comfortable or confident with it.
(As a sidenote, this topic was posted in Elementary, but it applies to both Middle and High School as well)
