How do you interpret this section of contract verbiage?
« on: May 02, 2023, 10:25:33 pm »
I'm a bit confused. Yes, this 2.2M is lowball, but I'm trying to figure out what the 2.6M "allowance" exactly means...

Code: [Select]
For performing the duties required by this Agreement, the Employer shall pay directly to the Employee a salary of 2.2mil(KRW) for each full calendar month of employment hereunder
 (annual allowance연차수당 및 기타수당 2.6mil(KRW))
계약서에서 요구한 의무를 하는 대가로, 고용주는기본급에 연차수당기타수당을 합하여 260만원을 다음달에 직접 지급한다
(Google Translation of Korean: In return for fulfilling the obligations required by the contract, the employer directly pays KRW 2.6 million in the next month by adding annual leave allowance and other allowances to the basic salary.)

Has anyone seen this before and may be able to clarify?

ChatGPT, which is generally much better at this sort of thing, translates it as:

""In exchange for fulfilling the obligations requested in the contract, the employer will pay a total of 2.6 million won (including basic salary, annual leave allowance, and other allowances) directly to the employee next month.""

The way that this is phrased seems to imply a bonus payment at the end of the contract. However this is something to clarify with the employer rather than Waygook.
