128,000 guards at 75k a year in salary  is less than $10 billion a year. Thats not insignificant but its not exactly big money either. Many schools already have a dedicated cop on duty anyway.

Problem is those dedicated cops seem dedicated to bashing students rather than protecting them.

Where did you get 75K a year from? TSA security officers make $48,500 a year.

Benefits, other costs, etc. Figure I'd add some padding to be safe on cost estimate.

So should USA gun laws resemble Jamaica or Mexico's?
Does your wife submit to you?

Back to Illinois:

"An Illinois man using a leaf blower in his own yard was fatally shot by his 79-year-old neighbor during an argument, authorities said, marking the latest incident in which people are gunned down while going about their everyday lives.

William Martys, 59, was using a leaf blower in his yard at his Antioch home on April 12 when he was approached by his next-door neighbor, Ettore Lacchei. The two argued, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

During the altercation, “Lacchei shot Martys in the head,” the sheriff's office said in a news release. "

LIke a good neighbor...

Hook 'em, horns!

"AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A Texas man went next door with a rifle and began shooting his neighbors, killing an 8-year-old and four others inside the house, after the family asked him to stop firing rounds in his yard because they were trying to sleep, authorities said Saturday.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said authorities were still searching for the 39-year-old suspect following the overnight shooting in the town of Cleveland, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Houston. He said the suspect, whom he did not identify, used an AR-style rifle in the shooting.

“Everyone that was shot was shot from the neck up, almost execution-style,” Capers said during a news conference at the scene.

Capers said there were 10 people in the house and that no one else was injured. He said two of the victims, all believed to be from Honduras, were found laying over two children inside."

What will it take for people in the US to realize that the unregulated sale of guns is a bad idea for everyone except the NRA, gun manufacturers and retail gun sellers?

The gunman has been identified, and given the identity, mainstream media is talking about the story less.

Oropeza, originally from Mexico, has been deported at least twice in the past.

Undocumented means can't buy or possess a firearm. (Gun sales aren't unregulated.) He got it illegally.

Let trump, abbott, and desanctimonious scream and holler about illegal immigrants--the real killers are part of their base.

The copy and paste post is about an intoxicated illegal immigrant in Texas; not really related to Chicago.

Old white men and guns appear to be a volatile mix.

Older generally means less impulsive… until one’s brain deteriorates. Senility brings more danger when driving a car or owning a gun. But what does whiteness have to do with it?  Frankly, the majority of murders are committed by people of color. If you’re killed in the United States, it’s more likely than not the killer is black. Objective fact. But guess what? Most black people aren’t killers. Most immigrants aren’t killers. Most white people aren’t killers. The American population is soooo big the statistical likelihood of dying by a gun shot from another is soooo small. Much bigger risks are dying from eating too much, smoking, alcohol poisoning, texting while driving, or fentanyl overdose.

Using LI's logic, because heart disease kills more people than cancer, cancer is nothing to worry about.

I had a friend in Chicago. She went to Layola College. She had a weird roommate. Get it together, Chicago!

Layola College sounds like a party school.  My university had a Loyola College.  Those Jesuits didn't allow for any of those shenanigans but were ok with boozing.
