St. Patrick's Day celebration returns to Seoul
« on: March 16, 2023, 02:15:08 pm »
Who will be at JR for the Embassy's after party?

https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2023/03/113_347227.html

I know the waygook.org crowd are more 'bitch and moan' than 'craic agus ceol' but you might surprise yourself and have fun!

I'm pretty sure I'm in the pic somewhere. I used to go every year to Yongsan with
my American friends. (They seem to be more Irish than the Irish.)

Lots of Guinness, whiskey and sausages.

Same! I'm in the left section, 2/3 back on the right side. hehe
And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They’d probably put my head in a guillotine

The last time I went the 8th US Army jazz band played.

They rocked.

Last time I went to one at DCube was around nine years ago.  It was followed up by a trip to The Wolfhound but it was packed and the washrooms smelled even worse than usual.  Fun day, but I think I'm done with the after party.  Maybe head to DCube then head home and put on The Pogues and revel in my plastic Paddy status.

And maybe that attention seeking non Irishman will be walking around carrying his box of Lucky Charms hoping Koreans will want a selfie with him.  Anyone recall that tool?  He's done it more than once.

Went up to Seoul for this my first few years in Korea. Each time it was great, after party included. Won't be making it this year. And, like Augustiner, not sure I still have the legs for an after party

Great concert! This is also my go-to when I'm in a mood for a bit of the Pogues.

I'm Irish on my mother's side. For some reason, it has never occurred to me to celebrate Saint Patricks' Day. All those parties I've missed out on...

My friends and I would religiously make a weekly Friday night
pilgrimage to either Itaewon, Sinchon or Hongdae.

Then we got married...

Do actual Irish people actually give a crap about St Patricks Day or is it purely just plastic paddies?

They do! Or it’s just another excuse to drink. But really it’s all about the craic.

However, until the 1970s all pubs in Ireland were required to close for the day, what with it being a religious observance and all.

Turning water into wine isn’t cause for a celebration? :)

image was not showing for me, i thought you were telling me to go naked (is it just me btw, or is it also not loading for you guys). also i dunno if i'll be hitting the afterparty, but the festival itself and a late bus home is pretty tempting, assuming the food and beer is good.
