Strap on yer hog legs boyz!

We gonna have a shoot out!

Yeehaw!

It's inaccurate to say the people shooting each other are cowboys. It's mostly black guys in the hood. Also, black on white violence is much greater than white on black violence. But mostly it is killing of those in close proximity. Note the correlation in murder increase with the rising popularity of black lives matter and defund the police, which took off in 2014 and 2020.

Life as an Asian American: very safe. Extremely low chance of being shot. Life as a white American: very safe. Extremely low chance of being shot. Though not quite as good as that for Asians. Avoid dangerous situations such as going to a sketchy place to buy meth to reduce your odds of being killed. Do what Asians in the United States are doing to live a long safe life.

The NUMBER ONE cause of death among children and adolescents in the US in 2022 is firearms.  Which means those deaths are 100% PREVENTABLE.

100%? How do we stop teens from shooting each other?

For Asians, less than 1 in 100,000.

100,000 is an unfathomably large number, meaning they are doing pretty well. Even 1 in 10,000 is super low. In olden times 1 in 2 didn't live to see their 18th birthday.

And the U.S. is doing pretty well with declining cancer and road accidents if this has become number one. How much of one thing becoming number one is due to other risks of death diminishing? It's rare for a child to die. And I noticed kids are defined as 1-18 rather than 0-18, I guess because if 0-1 was included the top position would be altered.

I picture you at the funeral of a child who was shot and killed, holding posters with graphs on them in both arms, telling all assembled that it's not that bad.

Texas in the news again for all the wrong reasons.

Don't know whether you got the news, but a Korean-American family were among the dead. The father, a lawyer, and the mother, a doctor, and their three-year-old child. The nine-year-old is in critical condition. They were going shopping and then to their church.

Gun nuts could give a flying f&*k it seems. texas governor talks about mental health after cutting its budget last year. Forked tongues.

I think at this point, some posters are hoping for more shootings so they can keep on posting on this thread. I see the same thing on RW accounts that constantly post Chicago violence updates. Like clearly at this point what little care for people you had in the beginning is long gone and it's just some way to keep score in a game you and no one else is playing.

While it may not really be the case anymore today, there was a time a few years back when people actually did that on occasions.

its pretty massive news,  that makes the top story on BBC's news app.  i don't think people are looking for more shootings,  but for some reason, more shootings keep happening. And they seems to have a pretty common denominator. America isn't going to change any gun laws anytime soon to amend the situation.  what else could they do?  Maybe tone down the rhetoric used in "news"?  Maybe make laws about news programs speculation about events, giving personal opinions and distributing that as news.  Ideal situation would be gun reform, consolation prize could at least be toning down the hate speech on the news. Both sides.

We're just hoping that eventually the reality of the need for gun safety laws will become apparent to posters like yourself. Your post shows you don't get it, but maybe one day...

Clearly arguing with people on this forum is a great way to solve the gun issue in America.

I should have known that's why you were on here- humanitarian reasons and to persuade the easily swayed here.

Clearly, you've changed your direction of attack while continuing to dodge the issue. Pretty nifty considering your head is buried in the sand.

In the US, 18-year-olds are deemed responsible enough to wield power over life and death but not drink a beer.

Really boggles the old noggle.

From Wiki:

15% of robberies, 63% of intimate partner violence incidents, 37% of sexual assaults, 45-46% of physical assaults and 40-45% of homicides in the United States involved use of alcohol.

A 1983 study for the United States found that 54% of violent crime perpetrators, arrested in that country, had been consuming alcohol before their offenses.

In the United Kingdom, in 2015/2016, 39% of those involved in violent crimes were under alcohol influence.

International studies are similar, with an estimate that 63% of violent crimes worldwide involves the use of alcohol.

________
TL;DR - Alcohol increases the risk of crime, and by a hell of a lot.

I don't dispute that at all! However, I think it'd be pretty hard to shoot someone without a gun.
