Quote
Attorney Park Han-hee, a legal representative of the couple, said the landmark court decision could set a precedent to prevent discrimination against sexual minorities.

"This court ruling is not just about individuals fighting over insurance payments. Instead, I hope the ruling can set a precedent that discourages the state from hindering same-sex couples’ rights," said Park, who herself identifies as transgender.

In previous trials, Korean courts have not put same-sex couples on par with heterosexual couples.

Could the courts push same sex marriage acceptance in Korea?

marriage is dumb, but certainly the same legal rights for same sex couples as married couples should be recognized. if they need you to sign a marriage cert to do it,  then sure, allow same sex marriage.

For all those people who view marriage as something more than acquiring "legal rights" any push towards acceptance is a positive step.

Haha...brings back memories...walking down the street and a middle age Korean guy insists on holding my hand. Another one in the group I'm with sees this and tells me that there are "no gays in Korea, maybe 1%." So funny!
(circa 1995).
Never did feel comfortable over the years with straight, gay denying men holding my hand as we walked.
Don't see it so much anymore.

Why did you post this. I thought these images had been
purged from my consciousness permanently.
