where's the love for all the tropical fish whose home burst in Berlin? Set them free, Sting sang, but not like this.

It was a tragedy.
I have a 200 liter tank in my apartment, which is decent sized, and it really adds a lot to the living room area: it gets a lot of attention when guests come over (especially if they brought kids!). But it's an immense amount of work, and a lot of investment both in time and also care. I would be pretty shattered if it collapsed or something.
I can't image the effort of building and maintaining a million litre  would have been, and the upset it's destruction must've caused.
Also, it pretty much destroyed the entire neighbourhood, and killed all 1,500 fish.
They were pretty lucky that only 2 people got hurt, and not super seriously.

Interesting, and horrible, tragedy with a liquid spill.

And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They’d probably put my head in a guillotine

Apparently one of the porters had named and could recognize all 1500 of the fish.  He's just gutted.

The great molasses flood in Boston killed 21 and seriously injured another 150.
Gack. Imagine drowning in syrup.

I'm pretty amazed that none of them survived. I'd be out there with a bucket, afterwards, trying to save as many as possible.

Apparently one of the porters

Actually, it was a stout and a lager.

So few got hurt because it was before anyone had woken up. Later in the day would have seem more injuries.
