Jiang Zemin, President of China from 1993-2003, has died at the age of 96. His tenure oversaw the handover of Hong Kong and Macau to China, the establishment of the Great Firewall, the crackdown on Falun Gong, the interception of a US spy plane over the South China Sea, and China joining the WTO.
