I return to China next week after leaving for my winter holidays on December 24th. I'll complete my contract (end of this semester) pack up my things, say goodbye to some genuinely nice people, and never return. I've done 10 years in China, the last 12 weeks will fly by.

The pay and, more importantly, money I have saved means it will be just about worth it but 2022 was hell. Ah well.

It's not just COVID though. That was just a shitty cherry on top. I was supposed to leave in 2020, had a university job in Japan lined up. Then that got postponed and then the offer got retracted because at the time no sign of opening.

The problem was always finding a way to not make the leader look bad or piss him off. Tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars was spent (and lost) on this endeavour alone.

I think the Shanghai lockdown was into the trillions if you take into account lost productivity and income.

Newly available evidence suggests racoon dogs at the Wuhan wet market could be tied to the virus's origin.

It's a coincidence that the other raccoons in the other wet markets in other cities without coronavirus labs didn't have breakouts or origins of coronavirus....
I still never got any previous warnings to make me muted.  I never got any reason for being muted.  I guess the moderators of this site are just fat loser assholes who do as they feel.  Just because they feel like it or were losing an argument.  Dumbass morons!!!

Save your won and you may be able to buy a replacement for your broken record.

Ever stop to think that much of the food, like beef, chicken, farm-raised seafood, you eat has been vaccinated? Chilling.

With an untested rushed coronavirus vaccine?  I think not.  Other vaccines went through the proper trials and testing.

Hangook77, we've been through this. The Covid vaccines have now been through years of trials.

How are chicken and fish vaccinated? Surely not with injections. I know that in some countries, oral rabies vaccines are left in forests for wild animals to eat. Do they do something similar for fish? In China we have inhaled Covid vaccines now.

Actually, according to the FDA, the US is currently using 3 different vaccines for farmed fish (salmon, especially), and has been for the last 50 years or so.
It's mixed in with their food.

Here's a *very long* article about the methodology etc, but the abstract sums it up nicely:

Wow! That is very cool. Vaccines are such a wonderful tool in the fight against global pandemics  I'm so glad the fish in these farms won't have to suffer from such horrible diseases and can instead meet their end in a hot bath of herbs and spices on my stove.
