Who would you like to see as a new mod?

Apologies for any missed names. They can be added.

Mr. C all the way. He has previously offered to get involved (fixing up some file mess), and has stated that the only things he would come down on, for the most part, are doxing and racism. Best person for the job IMO.

Yeah.

Well, it counts as time served for community service.

In this particular case, I was talking more just for myself.

Well, it counts as time served for community service.

I'm curious what exact obligation to this site you think you have?

Right?

It's not paid, the mod team is understaffed, and, near as I can tell, admin is not all that involved in the day-to-day upkeep of the site (outside of keeping the site online). He basically picked out a handful of users to work for free while he profits off the site.

Kyndo, I'd feel absolutely no obligation. If you're busy and don't really want to mod this site anymore, don't do it. Admin can either find other people, or he can let the users run his site into the ground. That's on him, not you.

For those of who believe in things like "volunteering", "community" and such, we understand that the way that happens is people offering their time and energy to provide service and support.

As for Arsalan profiting, I'm not sure. How much does this site really pull in vs. the server costs? He's probably making a bit, but not that much. I'm suspecting that if he paid moderators and this was a non-profit, they wouldn't be getting more than a $50-$100 check per month for about an hour per day of work.

Put it this way, one of the banner ads is of an old book, that likely hasn't sold many copies and has been up for year and likely written by someone who doesn't have that much money to burn. That's not a sign of a big $$$ site.

it still shocks me,  in this day an age,  with all the technology we have to avoid it,  why are you still getting banner ads?  use an ad blocker.  ads (all of them) should be abolished.

Chimp would be a good moderator....peraha ps Koreaboo.

Whatever...shaggy-dog hair should not be a constant presence.  Nor should shaggy-dog be deleting posts to cover his butt...we all know it.

If someone could tweak LI's algorithm so that it's not fixated on statistics and no longer can use differently colored fonts, I'd vote for it. There's no reason bots can't be used for good.

Certainly someone who is neither very right wing or very left wing on the politics threads, which often cross the line regarding elections or certain leaders.

On the moderators' forum we say we don't GAF about politics. That helps us not try to prime the pump politically, go pro- or anti-Trump, to temper QEII criticism only when it became abusive; not take sides on poster disputes.

The key is to TRY to help the discussion and protect the users from personal attacks.

We are all here to get along and talk civilly.

Respect a difference of opinion. Call out patterns but don't cross the line into personal insults or repeated harassment.

It's a free country, Korea is, as this forum is, but as John S. Mill famously said: freedom has limits. Not infringing on the basic rights of others is among them.

Life's to live! Live! Breathe. Relax. Enjoy. Animals teach us to focus on family, friends and avoid danger. Get what you need and get along with others. That said, some rock the boat, but they know capsizin' it means they're sunk. Some sink, let's swim! The sea's big, great, but has undercurrents.
