Wendy's
« on: May 24, 2011, 04:57:16 pm »
Does anyone know if Wendy's is anywhere in Korea? Taco Bell found its way here, but I'm pretty sure there isn't one. I've only seen like 2 Burger Kings.

Wendy's was here until the mid-1990s.  They had planned to reopen restaurants in Japan (they left in January 2010), but I'm not sure if that's happened yet.
In Korea from 2005 - 2010, not in Korea now.  Please contact an active moderator for quick answers to your questions.

I finally found out.. there are NO Wendy's in Korea. However, the franchise opportunity is available.  How about 20 of us band together and we can start one! HAHA.

Really, Google is your friend for a lot of this Korea-related stuff.

I wish Wendy's were stingier about who they let run their stores.

Terrible about Wendy;s dying in Japan. I used to love going to Fukuoka from Busan and chilling out at the Golden Hawks stadium with Wendy's on the beach during visa runs.

But seriously...you have only seen 2 Burger Kings? They are everywhere!!!

Yep. Only 2, but I lived in Ulsan for 3 years and the first Burger King I saw was going to the US Embassy to apply for my wife's tourist visa to America in 2009.

very true.....it was just the wrong time to open just like Taco Bell and a few others who came and failed miserably about 10 years back.

Koreans are more open these days to foreign cuisine and I think Wendy's would do fine if they tried again.....

I don't know. I have a feeling it had a bit more to do with the relationship between Wendy's and the owner in Korea. My conspiracy theory is that Wendy's wanted the guy to do something reasonable that all franchise owners are supposed to do, but the guy didn't want to, so they split and the dude changed the name to something else.

Wow, I haven't thought about Wendy's in a while. I could go for a bulgogi baconator.

I have to admit, I was surprised when I saw this one Wendy's commercial, they advertised that they don't freeze their burgers ~ and that commercial didn't last!  I love their Frosty's, I could go for one right now.

And speaking of fresh, never frozen burgers, I could go for an In-N-Out Burger right now!  :P

Are Burger King and McDonalds the only western chains in Korea? Or are there some others?
