No memory other than noting her mom had re-married a carpet salesman but lived in a lino-floored trailer/mobile home (nice enough but odd).
Life's to live! Live! Breathe. Relax. Enjoy. Animals teach us to focus on family, friends and avoid danger. Get what you need and get along with others. That said, some rock the boat, but they know capsizin' it means they're sunk. Some sink, let's swim! The sea's big, great, but has undercurrents.

Wait, something doesn't add up. If she lived in a mobile home, why didn't she just drive to you?

Um. Back in '87 I had a part time job in college working in a men's wear store (Elk's, a Canadian premier chain until they later folded)  and for the Xmas party the only gay guy on staff had me as his to-gift recipient, and he got me a John Cougar Mellancamp CD. I praised it (i may even have said "cool"), but i - thinking it too country at the time - shortly thereafter traded it in for a George Michael's "I want your sex" CD, to which my girlfriend and i shortly thereafter fooled around during, on a trip to her biological mom's house over a 3-hour trip by Greyhound. To wit: IRONY 101: A gay man gifted me an album i returned to buy an album by a gay guy who got me some action with my girlfriend. You can't make up this stuff!

Over a decade later, about 1998, I bought a Mellencamp CD and enjoyed it (in the aftermath of chill Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dave Matthews Band).

Mellancamp remains relevant: https://youtu.be/joNzRzZhR2Y
Always liked Mellencamp.  Lots of good tunes but this one sticks out as I am pretty sure I bought the 45 single.  Can't recall the b-side.

One of the good ones August! I like his newer stuff as well.

On a side note, how was your tropical vacation?

Great, thanks for asking.  Took a bit of a chance heading down to meet a Korean friend I really only knew slightly, but she turned out to be a great companion.  Up early hitting the streets, showed me loads of hole in the wall restaurants only locals went to and had zero interest in eating Korean food at any point of the trip.  It saddens me to say it was much easier than travelling with my GF of several years.  Downside was she's a non-drinker.  Didn't have any aversion to me drinking but I didn't feel right dragging her off to some of my favourite Bangkok watering holes, so I went an entire week in Thailand without a beer.  The opposite of how most of my Thailand trips have gone.  Missed the big rains here, as well.

Are you thinking about bailing? Or, just a good song?
Bailing?! Bailing?... Did you listen to the song?

STAY OR GO but that song is fly whatever the decision!! It rivaled the other rock greats back in the day, and enlivened house parties!

Gawd rock is dead. Drums, guitar and energetic vocals used to ... er,... rock.

Maybe 7 or 8 of my top 100 rock songs this century have been in my top 100 rock songs ever (maybe only 6). Ugh.

If you dunno the difference between rock and pop, it's due to your generation.

EDIT: The gawddamn teacher in me has to let it be known:

This is pop (despite the opening cymbals): https://youtu.be/CvBfHwUxHIk
This is (hard) rock:

No one is mistaking pop for rock. Are you arguing with the voices in your head?

Yep, opted for a compromise of taking some leave.  Bailing completely is still a live option though.

Good line in that track.

" if I leave there will be trouble, if I stay it will be double"
