Finally!!!
The elevator music that has been a worm in my head for the past year and driving me insane, because of this damn thread, came on while I was watching the new Indianna Jones movie. At 26:23, the song that I now know is called 'The Girl from Ipanema' quietly started playing and nearly made me fall off the sofa .  Probably the first time since the 60s that I've heard it. Have you ever had a tune revisiting your head for a year that's all in 'la..lalala..la's...very psychedelic   ;D
Now that's out of the way, normal life can resume! Sorry about dragging this thread up again.
That song (especially the instrumental version) is prime elevator music, but I'm amazed you hadn't heard it since the sixties.

You're right August! I must have heard it at various stages during my life on the radio, just don't recall. The phrase 'Elevator Music' has triggered the memory 'of me in standing in elevators as a kid, listening to this tune.

And there we go...I must have seen the Blues Brothers 4 or 5 times during its heyday and heard the snipped of 'The Girl from Ipanema' from that scene you posted. I just didn't click...don't I feel slightly duncey!
Loved those Blues Brothers parties we used to have in the 80s  8)
