For me a couple stand out:

  • Processed meat is a class 1 carcinogen, but cancer takes over a decade - usually - to develop, so my lifelong love of pepperoni pizza continues, however infrequently. (I have gone years without, but relapse happens - there is no real sense of guilt, but an awareness i might be ****ing myself up).

  • Lounging. There's so much media and doctor promotion to be active continuously, but I'd rather run for 1 hour and lay on a bed for 7 hours rather than sit on a chair for 8 hours (horror!). I knew that in high school when i loathed all office job prospects and ran 10k a day. Tangent: In 2010, early in my 2nd of 7 years in Seogwipo, my employer was designing the layout in a new building and i had the gall to ask if i could choose which classroom would be mine; she assented, i then asked if the designed classroom alignment could be changed to nix the teacher's desk at the front, and instead have a cubby (small wooden top for a computer, no chair) in the back corner next to a suggested short - not tall - student-accessible bookcase, white boards on two walls instead of one. I rocked that room until 2017, STANDING the whole time. The longest time I spend in a sitting position is at a movie theater, while driving, or at a dinner (though plenty of opportunities arise to rise.)

Yep Van, processed meat and lack pf movement, for me as well.

I'll also add copious amounts of beer at a sitting. My usual is 8-10 500 ml cans. Way too much for good health, but not very often any more. I llike beer!
8 to 10? Damn. I've rarely gone there. Beer is quite filling and I'd never drank much before SK and my local friends hereabouts go: 1 beer, then 2-6 soju bottles, then 1 or 2 beer each at the third stop, the singing room, cabbies waiting outside to take you home. Rinse, wash, repeat.

Also, too much fluffy white bread, pies, cakes and cookies...all home-made of course. Really bad for the 'Type 2', but tastes so good.
Homemade cookies in Korea? ... uh, back home yeah, it is the secret juice or kryptonite. But, in South Korea? I have been to plenty of local homes since 2002 and have never been served a cookie of any way, shape or form. Does powdered rice cake count? Since my first visit, the best home-prepped item has been rice cake soup, hands down. I have twice dropped my shoulders and thought it the best soup i've ever had in the morning.

I'm usually 3-4 king cans. Enough to get through a movie and cigar.

Yes, I think cigars are good for you. You don't inhale and the effects on mood
are wonderful. But everything in moderation. Never more than 3-4 cigars a week.

I do miss smoking sometimes. I loved the small cigars ocassionally...a cheroot? The owner of Paris Baguette back in 98/99, used to order them in for me.

And yeah. 8-10 cans is  heavy, but you see I have a system...5 beers in the garden contemplating veges and whatnot, then back down to listen to music for the remainder. If I can see straight, I'll then move onto a game of rugby league

That's a good system!

Whats the point of smoking if you don't inhale?

cigars aren't filtered the same way cigs are so the smoke is painful to inhale. you swish it around in your mouth for the flavor

I managed to quit smoking, and after a few years using a vape, I took out the batteries and threw it in the trash last week. I keep trying to justify it in my head that "It's not bad, it's not cigarettes. I should just buy another one" But, I know I shouldn't, I'm hoping the cravings can go away soon, it's miserable. I love my nicotine :( (it doesn't help that right outside of my building is apparently the designated smoking spot for the entire city.
Don't kid yourself, all heroes wear capes. // I don't get in shape. I bring the gym to my house and I throw it around.

I'm at the supermarket enjoying a mojito. They just started serving them as a promotion to sell alcohol.

I think obviously ice cream is high in calories, but I don't see why
quality ice cream would be that bad for you. Natural ingredients
like milk, cream, sugar and flavours.

So, dig in laddie.

No one's mentioned it...ice cream.

Love the stuff. I could eat a pint a day, and a quart on Saturdays. But it has to be quality. However, being a sensible person, or rather my wife's non-verbal cues when I mention ice cream, I stick to a pint twice a month or so.

Ice cream must be really bad because even the quack said it was one of the worst foods, in more than moderation. Geez, I struggle with moderation...and I have trouble believing the doctor at times.

is that literally a pint? If I buy a medium sized Hagen dasz? for around 10,000 won i make it last three days. And I'm pretty sure that's less than a pint.

The Waygook discussion boards.

Nope, that's a pint. Same as Baskin Robbins...now about 9000 won (went up recently). And yes, I'm exaggerating, but you get the point. If I could, I would..eat copius amounts of good ice cream.

Ah Ok, I just found out there's a difference between US and UK pints. All this time when Americans mentioned pints of ice cream I thought they were talking about 568 ml, which is a British one. So not as greedy as I'd thought.
