Did you know that 파전 is actually an English portmanteau? It started in the Korean war when more wheat flour was coming in and the only vegetables grown locally were leeks and  (green) onions.

So the GIs saw that the Koreans were eating this "pizza like" circle of batter and onions and they would laugh and say "haha, looks like pizza!" (This is why Koreans today still call it pizza-like even today).

So the Koreans weren't sure what that meant. Pizza? What's that? So the GIs would explain to them, "You know, like Papa John's?"

 :lipsrsealed: 파파.......전스?

:police: Yeah, man. Papa John's. You know? *points at this new Korean pizza wheat onion concoction.*

 :lipsrsealed: 아~~~~~~ 파전?

:police: Yeah...... Sure, Mr. Kim. Pajohn.

 :lipsrsealed: 파전............... 파전!!!

And a staple of modern Korean cuisine was born. All thanks to the GIs bringing in a lot of wheat flour for their own cooking purposes.

Seroiusly, ... Aren't you trolling?

I'm not sure if your tongue is in your cheek or not.

I'm not being serious.
I can cook well enough that I'm not forced to eat condiment concoctions, thankfully.

Get out!
Help others, especially animals. Say what you think, be considerate of others. Appreciate more than deprecate. Teach well, jump on teachable moments. Enjoy Korea as it is, without changing it. Dwell! Yet, at times, change your life for the better. "The most important [thing] is to have a good day."

Ironically, the best Korean food I have ever had has been in SE Asia. There's a DPRK restaurant here called Pyeongyang that has delicious food. And, you get to watch a show by the servers, who are talented musicians, along with watching their watchers. No photos allowed.

There's a new superstore called Kok Kok Mega Shop that has a little cafeteria as you enter which serves delicious typical fare.
