Moving provinces (EPIK) and implications for vacation?

I have a question for those people who work for EPIK and reapplied to new provinces. It’s a bit ahead of time, but i currently work in Busan and am planning on changing to work for a public school in Seoul next year. Winter vacation 2023 (right before i start the new job) will also be the first time I go to visit my family. So i’m wanting to know the implications for my vacation time:
Would i need to do the orientation again before starting my contract with a new school? Meaning i’d need to be in the country the week before my contract starts? Or would it be fine to come back from vacation just two or three days before the start of the new contract? Seeing as I’ve already been through orientation in Busan etc.?

Ask them directly.  Asides from the pay cut, they most likely can give you the answers you seek.

Hi thanks, could you clarify what you mean by “pay cut”?

from what I remember (not sure if this is still current) you must still attend some of the orientation (2-3 days) and get the orientation medical check done/contract signing/placement etc but that's my understanding from a few years ago....so best to ask them directly

One of my co-teachers just transferred from Ulsan to Daejeon, she said that she didn't have to go to another orientation but did have to attend a signing ceremony the day before she would start teaching at our school.  She said though to ask just to be sure because things are always changing with EPIK these days. I hope this helps

I agree. This is my 4th year at my school, and I asked my office of Education if I could taken time off and be directly re-employed with them since I am on an F-6 and have a Korean spouse, and permanent residence under their name in my city…
And they told me I would have to go through the whole EPIK application again, and probably re-do the whole orientation again :O

I’m real mad about that…

Hi thanks, could you clarify what you mean by “pay cut”?

if you move to another province im p sure they reset you back to the lower pay scale, if youve only been teaching one year ig it doesnt matter that much but you wont get to go up a level as you would normally

Anecdotal evidence, but my pay scale wasn't re-set (Gangwon to Seoul, 2017). I was, however, informed that I would need to be on a visa other than an E-2, because the training counts as work, but you can't transfer your E-2 without knowing your employer (MOE). Apparently Seoul also had (still has?) a different start/end day than other provinces, which can make it hard to transfer. I did end up on the F-2-7 before my placement, but it ended up being off-season anyway, so the training part and end date weren't problems.
