580 critical cases a week out of...say 500k+ weekly infections is statistically zero. Those critical rate numbers would be in the tens of thousands by now without the high vaxx rate.Omicron is NOT the common cold. Common colds don't overwhelm first world medical systems within a few weeks.
Around 56% of 1,073 people who died over the past five weeks were either unvaccinated or had received only one dose, the study showed, with people aged 60 or older accounting for 94% of deaths.
duh obviously that means that around 50% of fatalities had been fully vaccinated. You would get that 50/50 ratio with any group, just like flipping a coin. These stats aren't saying much.
That is about 0.001% death rate among the vaccinated, and 0.0082% among the unvaccinated.
That’s a minuscule chance of dying. One in one hundred thousand is unfathomably small. So is one in twelve thousand. People of working age, unless extremely weak and sickly, should not be afraid.
What can we do to get more old folks vaccinated and boosted? What’s causing them not to be? They just don’t want to? Read a conspiracy theory online?
Scroll to the bottom of this: http://ncov.mohw.go.kr/en/bdBoardList.do?brdId=16&brdGubun=161&dataGubun=&ncvContSeq=&contSeq=&board_id=Most deaths are of older people… so by far the best way to lower the death rate overall is raise the vaccination rate among the most vulnerable- which would be aged 80+.
I don't doubt that the old folks are the most vulnerable. But it's ridiculous to expect 100% vaccination. I don't have the data but I assume the vaccination rate for those above 80 is at least 97-98%.It's also ridiculous that you keep asking ''what can we do to increase the vaccination rates?'' Literally no one can do that, not even those with actual power. Let alone us.
If only 88.2% of those over 60 are boosted, then the percentage of those over 80 boosted is likely to be lower, as being bed ridden and with dementia increases with age. More boosters are needed for the older demographic. If not, the death rate will remain high, and as a result, society will be unable to reopen.
The deaths are nearing 8.000
