It's a roll of the dice. I know a few people in Daegu (NETs and Korean teachers) who can skip out of deskwarming. I'm still here like clockwork, deskwarming except for one week of camp (except it's not being called camp 'cause then they'd have to provide a budget).

And except for the camp business, that's just how it goes. Yeah, I'd rather not come in, but I have to, and that's that.

Where are these awesome no desk warming schools at? This is amazing! I feel like all schools should cut the NETs some slack and let them clock out early during desk warming days.

Even 2019 seems better than the upcoming contract conditions...
My Korean co-teacher received a manual for 2022 which said that all NET's 22 teaching hours must be used for student classes, we can't have 1 ~ 2 hours for teacher's classes anymore :<
she also told me that the MOE supervisors will be visiting the schools to check that this is being followed/ enforced.... which seems kind of ridiculous.

It really truly sounds like it was...

That will probably mean some people have to go to multiple schools...there are only so many after school hours and free semester classes (speaking as someone who had 5/6 periods of afterschool and 4 periods of free semester classes this semester).

In any case, if I did post this link, then there must have been an awesome reason for it, so I'll stand by my decision to have done so. Je ne regrette rien!

Seem like a bunch of people who really have nothing better to do with their time, unless the government is trying to create jobs by hiring a lot of useless positions where new people are hired to spy and watch and everyone.  Wasn't that what the Communists use to do?  Anyways, a lot of it seems pretty lame.  Though I have always gone to multiple schools most of the time I have been here.  I did have the odd year where I went to one school 5 days a week.  I didn't really like that.  I like some variety in my routine.  Plus if one school is too strict you don't have to be there everyday.  My area has been pretty big constantly checking on how many classes I teach in a week for several years now. 

But there are a lot of bad rules added to recent contracts.  Now if I go to the bank for 10 minutes, I immediately lose 10 minutes off the vacation apparently.  If you have a nice school maybe they won't make you come in at 8 30 and leave at 8 40 Monday morning to go start your vacation (no more 8 hour accumulations).  But there are dick schools and co teachers who will follow the contract line by line and obey every little lame rule to the T and show no mercy or compassion.  You use to get schools and co teachers showing a lot more kindness even when these worse contracts started coming down.  But very very recently, many have gone full retard.  It's like they want the foreign teachers all to leave.  Maybe deliberate sabotage?

I highly doubt they'd send someone out for a specific task like this. They have much better things to do than driving school to school looking for some 23 year old not at their desk.

btw those MOE supervisors are considered the same level as a vice-principal. So considering their pay-grade, unlikely they're specifically looking for NETs not deskwarming.

In normal times no.  But it does seem someone very high up that hates foreigners is driving this.  This along with lots of new rules would be fine if they gave something in return like raising the salaries.  Current pay package for most of EPIK was put in place in 2009 which at that time the upper pay was quite good.  They have not raised it since.  SMOE has never raised theirs at all.  First level wage there still at 1.8 million even though they don't hire level 3s anymore.  Rural shot theirs up because they couldn't get people.

Education officials visit schools all the time. While they are there for some other purpose, I guess inspecting something else, they can also check if the NET is there. Doesn’t take that much extra time.

I don't think they send someone specifically for this, but when the DMOE supervisor comes in to do his or her twice a year drop-in/ check-in, they apparently ask about the NET and the NET's schedule to make sure they are given 22 teaching hours a week.  My main co-teacher (who is also my main handler), always did have me down for 22 teaching hours a week on the printed schedule, however, 2 of those hours were "Teacher's Class".  She would always open it like 6 weeks into the semester on purpose, by that time teachers are usually too busy and do not sign up/ show up). So I was really only teaching 20 classes a week in real life. However, once March 2022 starts, our schedule all 22 hours must be used for student classes. This is to be enforced at all schools in my city :(.
