You fear strangers in villages more than you trust them? If so, k. Own it. Many do. It is the right wing narrative in U.S. media
We know from murder stats galore that indeed most people are killed by people they know than by strangers... though most deaths are by: 1. heart attack (a lifestyle disease), 2.cancer and 3. stroke (a mostly lifestyle disease). Erase an 80% chance of your death by researching (science please) the three leading causes.Being killed by a psycho stranger - especially a "lady" as CO2 describes - is statistically small.
Villages the world over are 99% safe I'd wager;
Dammit people! I confessed to breaking a sixth grader's arm and this is what you're talking about?!?!
CO2 is just peddling his right wing fear mongering.
There's NO GOOD REASON to give YOUR HOME ADDRESS out on a PUBLIC WEB FORUM. Holy shit. Can I be any clearer? There's ZERO REASON. I didn't say don't meet people, or that strangers are dangerous. DON'T GIVE YOUR ADDRESS OUT TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF RANDOM PEOPLE. FFS, you were a journalist but your reading comprehension is ZERO. You can believe that people are generally good and go out for casual dinners and still think that giving YOUR HOME ADDRESS out to STRANGERS in the TENS OF THOUSANDS is a bad idea.
(Irony here in terms of who's standing behind closed doors.)Don't freak out but there used to be this publication delivered to millions that had your name, phone number and home address! It was called a phone book.
But they don't include... "I'm a single woman living by myself. Please come to my house..."
Yeah, no one is going to say "R Hawthorne. Let's stalk that guy." If they know what you look like then they've seen you in real life and they can murder you. IT's not common, but it's already too late.
