FBAR pension taxes help
« on: January 26, 2022, 10:07:25 am »
Hello, so I read online that you need to include all pension accounts on your Fbar. I'm confused about it. How do you report national pension? Like addresses and account numbers. Where would i find this information?

According to the IRS:

"But, you donít need to report foreign financial accounts that are:

Correspondent/Nostro accounts,
Owned by a governmental entity,
Owned by an international financial institution,
Maintained on a United States military banking facility,
Held in an individual retirement account (IRA) you own or are beneficiary of,
Held in a retirement plan of which youíre a participant or beneficiary, or
Part of a trust of which youíre a beneficiary, if a U.S. person (trust, trustee of the trust or agent of the trust) files an FBAR reporting these accounts."

Held in a retirement plan would IMO relate to pension accounts.

Thank you. I'm inclined to agree that pension falls under that category and that's why I was confused about what I read online about FBARs and pension.  I wish it was more  clear. I guess I'll just take the stress off myself and assume I don't have to report it. Considering, I wouldn't know how to anyways.   :P

Thanks again for replying!  ;D
